After a recent meeting in Mogadishu, former presidents Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo formed an alliance against President Hassan Sheikh. The purpose of their meeting was to establish a new alliance and present a different political image.
According to reports, President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed proposed the inclusion of Hassan Kheyre and Abdirahman Abdishakur in the alliance. However, sources close to these individuals revealed that they withdrew from the alliance due to conflicts with Farmajo and their disagreement with his policies.
Various political movements are now emerging, aiming to consolidate the actions taken over the past six years and engage with the opposition.
Another important issue under scrutiny is how the federal government plans to conduct the upcoming administration elections. It is believed that there is a lack of clarity and disagreement between certain regional government leaders and President Hassan Sheikh.
The nature of the relationship between Hassan Sheikh and Deni, as well as the fate of the Garowe agreement accepted by the President, remain uncertain.
The Somali political landscape, currently in the midst of its mandate years, appears to have initiated the upcoming 2026 election campaign.
