THE DAY IDI AMIN DECLARED HE COULD SOLVE BRITAIN’S PROBLEMS

One of the most unbelievable yet hilarious stories about former Ugandan leader Idi Amin Dada happened in the 1970s, and it still shocks people today.

When Britain was facing economic struggles, Idi Amin publicly offered to help “fix” the United Kingdom.
Yes, he actually said he could save Britain.

Amin even wrote a letter to Queen Elizabeth, saying he was ready to “take control of her government” to help restore order and discipline. He claimed he had the “experience” needed to run a powerful nation.

The funniest part?

He also congratulated the UK for “finally accepting that African leaders were more capable.”
Of course, Britain never responded but the story became one of the most unforgettable moments of African political humor.

It remains one of those tales that shows how unpredictable and surprisingly entertaining African politics has been over the years.

A Zambian man from Lusaka has gone viral after a surprising twist in his online “romance mission.”

According to local reports, the man had been secretly chatting with a woman on social media for weeks. Using a fake name, the lady sounded sweet, caring, and everything he thought he was missing at home. The chats became frequent, and the man finally decided it was time to meet his “new crush” in person.

But the biggest shock came during the meetup — the mystery woman was actually his own wife, who had also created a second account to test if her husband could remain loyal.

Witnesses say both stood in silence for several seconds before the wife reportedly told him, “So… this is the woman you’ve been rushing to chat with?”

Neighbours say the couple later went home together for a very long conversation.

Zambians online are having a field day with the story, calling it “the plot twist of the year.”

Lesotho Faces Rising HIV Risks After Major U.S. Aid Cuts

A wave of concern is spreading across Lesotho as recent U.S. aid cuts begin to deeply affect HIV treatment and prevention programs in the country one of the nations with the highest HIV prevalence rates in the world.

For years, American support helped sustain clinics, community testing, and access to life-saving antiretroviral medication. But with funding sharply reduced, many clinics have scaled down operations, outreach workers have been laid off, and thousands of people living with HIV are struggling to receive consistent care.

Health groups in Lesotho warn that the cuts have led to:
• Reduced HIV testing, especially for pregnant women
• Shortages and delays in accessing antiretroviral medicine
• Fewer counsellors and frontline health workers
• Increased risk of new infections, particularly among young people

Over 260,000 people living with HIV in Lesotho now face greater uncertainty as treatment becomes harder to access. Local health officials fear that years of progress could be undone, putting vulnerable communities at even greater risk.

The situation has sparked urgent calls from activists, regional health bodies, and international partners to restore stable funding and prevent a potential surge in infections.

A wave of political tension is sweeping across Tanzania after President Samia Suluhu Hassan openly challenged citizens to stage a protest on December 9, a date that coincides with the country’s Independence Day celebrations.

Her bold statement has ignited intense debate both online and offline. Many Tanzanians are questioning the intent behind her remarks, with critics accusing her of provoking unnecessary confrontation at a sensitive time. Civil society groups and activists have expressed concern, warning that such rhetoric could escalate into unrest if not handled carefully.

On the other hand, a section of the public believes the President’s words were meant to test the opposition’s consistency and expose political theatrics before the nation. This interpretation has created even more controversy, fueling discussions about freedom of expression, political resistance, and the direction of Tanzania’s democracy.

As December 9 approaches, the country remains on edge, with uncertainty growing over whether any groups will respond to the challenge and what consequences may follow.

MEET MAMA EKUNDAYO — THE WOMAN WHO TURNED TEARS INTO JOY

Before the world celebrated international humanitarians, Africa already had one of the greatest: Mama Janet Ekundayo, a Nigerian woman whose entire life was defined by love, sacrifice, and limitless compassion.

Mama Ekundayo often called the Mother Theresa of Africa made a bold decision in 1969: she committed the rest of her life to caring for orphans, abandoned children, and babies with no one to return to.

She was a mother of five biological children, yet her heart had room for hundreds more. By 2007, she had taken in her 469th child, and by 2008 she had cared for over 500 children. This earned her the name “Olomo Yeye” the woman with many children.

Her name Ekundayo in Yoruba means “from tears to joy”, and that’s exactly what she did.
She turned sorrow into hope.
She turned abandonment into belonging.
She turned forgotten children into beloved sons and daughters.

From her modest home in Isanlu-Makutu, Kogi State, she ran the Ekundayo Orphanage for more than 50 years, becoming one of the most respected women in the region.

Her kindness even inspired Nigerian singer and photographer TY Bello, who created a song titled “EKUNDAYO” to honor this extraordinary woman.

Though Mama Ekundayo has passed on, her legacy continues to echo through every child she touched children who grew up knowing love because one woman refused to let them walk alone.

She may be gone, but her love still lives.

A major political storm has erupted across Somalia and the global Somali community after U.S. President Donald Trump made remarks suggesting that “Somalis must fix their internal problems before demanding respect from other nations.”

He also claimed that “some countries rely too much on America while failing to control extremist elements at home,” a statement widely interpreted as targeting Somalia.

Why the Reaction?

Many Somalis say the comments were unfair, disrespectful, and painted the entire nation with a broad and negative brush.
Civil society groups argue that the remarks ignore Somalia’s progress in rebuilding institutions, improving security, and stabilizing the country.

However, a smaller group of Somalis has said Trump “spoke hard truths that leaders should confront,” especially regarding governance and national security. This split opinion has intensified online debate.

The remarks have revived long standing discussions about international perception, national identity, and the global treatment of African nations.

A hilarious scene unfolded in Zimbabwe after a man reportedly faked his own arrest just to avoid paying a bar bill.

According to witnesses, the man quietly stepped outside, called a friend, and asked him to pose as a police officer. Moments later, the “officer’’ stormed in, pretended to arrest him, and dramatically escorted him away all to escape a tab of just a few dollars.

The plan almost worked… until the bar owner recognized the “police uniform’’ as a church usher’s outfit. The two were quickly exposed, turning the entire bar into a laughter-filled circus.

Africans are calling it the “smartest dumb plan of the year.”

A Namibian politician has officially removed “Hitler’’ from his name after years of public concern and light-hearted debate both locally and internationally.

The leader, previously known as Adolf Uunona, said the name was a colonial era inheritance and never reflected his values. His decision to finally drop it has sparked a wave of jokes, memes, and humorous reactions across Africa with many people saying it’s “about time” he rebranded.

Although the story began as a serious correction of history, it has quickly turned into one of Africa’s funniest talking points this week, proving once again how the continent blends humour with headline news.
