Cambodia and Myanmar Continue to Strengthen Cooperation Across Bilateral, Regional, and Global Frameworks
On the afternoon of 11 September 2026, at the Peace Palace, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a bilateral working meeting with H.E. Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and his high-level delegation during the President's state visit to Cambodia from 11 to 12 September 2026.
During the meeting, Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed the President and his delegation, highlighting that the state visit reflected the continued nurturing of bilateral friendship, as well as ongoing efforts to strengthen and expand relations and cooperation between the two countries.
In response, the President expressed his profound gratitude to the Royal Government, the Cambodian people, and Samdech Thipadei for the warm, close, and fraternal hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He commended Cambodia's rapid development and modernisation, noting that his first state visit as President had provided him with an opportunity to witness Cambodia's significant transformation since his previous visit in 2017. He emphasised that Myanmar regards Cambodia as a good and close friend that has consistently supported Myanmar within ASEAN and other international frameworks, particularly during Cambodia's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022.
Samdech Thipadei and the President also exchanged views on advancing cooperation across key priority areas, including the economy, trade and investment, tourism, security and defence, education and human resource development, religious affairs, and combating online scams, while continuing to support each other within regional and international frameworks.
Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei and the President discussed and pledged to enhance cooperation between Cambodia, Myanmar, and other countries in the region to address cross-border crime more effectively, particularly human trafficking, drug trafficking, and cybercrime.
