Chea Sopheak, 28, returned home on July 15 and told Kiripost that after nine years working in Thailand, he decided to leave because he faced difficulties, including the high cost of living and saving less money.

“I felt a bit scared as the situation [border tensions] was still happening, so I decided to come back. Now I don’t have a job yet, but I have received contacts from the MLVT to seek job announcements. I am waiting for my brother-in-law, who suggested I work with him in Svay Rieng province,” he said.

Today, the dance classes of the Princess Buppha Devi Dance School, led by His Royal Highness Prince Sisowath Tesso, are held at the Canadian International School of Phnom Penh (CIS), an OCIC affiliated company. Offered free of charge, the classes foster diversity among youth in a modern educational setting while helping sustain Khmer classical dance for future generations.

This initiative is part of OCIC’s broader support for the performing arts. The Group notably supported the screening of the documentary film The Perfect Motion, or Tep Hattha in Khmer, by Xavier de Lauzanne, which celebrates the elegance and heritage of traditional Khmer dance.
