82 fuel tankers from Niger have arrived in Mali to ease severe shortages caused by insurgent blockades. The convoy took 21 days to cover the 1,400 km journey from Niamey to Bamako due to insecurity. Russia's Africa Corps reportedly gave es**rt to the tanker convoys to prevent hijacking. For over two months, al Qaeda-linked militants have blocked fuel routes and attacked convoys, paralyzing the capital and pressuring the military junta. Russia has pledged up to 200,000 tonnes of fuel and agricultural supplies. Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso—now in the Alliance of Sahel States—are fighting persistent jihadist insurgencies and have cut ties with France, left ECOWAS, and turned to Russia for support.

A senior US senator is calling for an independent international investigation into post-election violence in Tanzania after a CNN documentary revealed allegations of targeted shootings, mass graves, and a possible security-agency cover-up. Senator Jeanne Shaheen described the findings as "disturbing," noting that the violence had occurred both before and after President Samia Suluhu Hassan was declared the winner with 98% of the vote. The CNN investigation documented police firing live ammunition at mostly unarmed protesters, morgues overflowing with dead bodies, and suspected secret burials intended to hide the true death toll. Verified videos, audio analysis, eyewitness accounts, and satellite images showing freshly disturbed soil at a cemetery near Dar es Salaam point to mass graves and widespread brutality in several cities.
