A lot of people don't know this but I served in Women's Refuge for over a decade. All over the motu, both North and South Island. In many refuges including establishing new safe houses and transitional housing.
I have seen and experienced so many things in this space. Some that I can't even fathom.
It is an absolute honor to walk alongside whānau in some of their most vulnerable and painful moments. To be able to provide safe options and resources... kai, clothing, shelter, comfort. Aroha. Manaakitanga.
I remember the day that I realised I needed to stop what I was doing and focus on myself. I didn't get too much of a choice to be honest, the tūpuna were sitting me down.
I really thought it'd be 4-6 months tops but here I am years later.. still doing the inner work, and growing more and more in my divinity and sovereignty.
To be honest it was super hard mahi to allow myself all of the things that I had facilitated for others. Time. Space. Love. Grace. To reach out for help.
But I am sooo grateful that I did.
I am probably in the best state that I have ever been in.
More connected to me
Knowing me
