CAMBODIA needs PEACE not WAR

To the International Community:

Mr. Trump the president of US

I am writing to you today as a concerned citizen of Cambodia, appealing for your urgent support and intervention in the ongoing conflict with Thailand. Despite an internationally-brokered ceasefire on July 28, 2025, hostilities have resumed, and the lives of my fellow citizens are in grave danger. The threat of a full-scale military attack from Thailand, as stated by our government, is a terrifying reality that hangs over our people. We fear a humanitarian catastrophe and a wider war in the region.
The core of this crisis is a long-standing border dispute that has now escalated into a direct armed conflict, causing death, injury, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. We cannot solve this alone. We need the international community to act decisively and immediately to de-escalate the situation and bring a lasting peace.

We are requesting the following actions:

* Immediate and Unconditional Ceasefire Enforcement: We urge a renewed and more robust effort from the United Nations and other international partners to enforce the existing ceasefire agreement. This must include an immediate halt to all military actions, troop movements, and inflammatory rhetoric from both sides.

* Deployment of International Observers: We call for the urgent deployment of a neutral, international monitoring force to the disputed border areas. This force should be comprised of representatives from countries not directly involved in the conflict, and its mandate should be to verify compliance with the ceasefire and to prevent any new skirmishes from escalating.

* Humanitarian Aid and Protection: The conflict has created a humanitarian crisis. Thousands of people have been displaced and are in desperate need of food, water, medical supplies, and shelter. We request that the international community provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the affected populations on both sides of the border and ensure the safety and protection of all civilians.

* Resumption of Diplomatic Negotiations: The long-term solution lies in a peaceful, diplomatic resolution. We appeal for international mediation efforts to be restarted, with the goal of establishing a permanent peace agreement. The United Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and other regional powers must work together to facilitate a dialogue that addresses the root causes of the border dispute in accordance with international law.

The Cambodian people are resilient, but we are also vulnerable. We are a people who desire peace and stability, and we look to the world for help in this moment of crisis. Your support, your voice, and your actions are critical to preventing a wider war and protecting the lives of millions.

𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐑𝐒

Thailand has violated the ceasefire agreement by arresting 20 Cambodian soldiers (and shooting two others whose conditions remain unknown—whether dead or alive) under the pretense of inviting them to shake hands and take group photos. Thailand’s actions constitute a breach of the Kuala Lumpur ceasefire agreement and are in violation of international law, specifically the 1949 Geneva Conventions concerning the treatment of prisoners of war (POWs). Cambodia must gather evidence in order to condemn Thailand for committing war crimes.
