This is 1 of my workflow to apply a lut to the footage.
1. input your camera setting information in CST.
2. Convert Color space and to LUT requirements. For Rec.709 Kodak D60 require Rec.709 color space and Cineon Film Log Gamma.
3. Balance and doing some grade with you artistic in nodes before CST node and Lut node.
4. Use color theory color scheme such as complementary ( Orange and Teal) to make in purpose to make audience get more feels in your footages.

There are many way to apply a lut. Most importantly is that you understand how to apply it and your lut do its magic to your eyes.

RGB splitter combiner nodes use to seperate red green and blue channels individually. You make some change on each channel such as reduce noise on each channel manually add or subtract color... in each channels. It's fun to play a lot with mouse scroll wheel.
