A small voice from Cambodia — a voice of pain and truth.
Thailand is telling the world that Cambodia started the war. That’s a lie. It was Thailand who fired first, entered our land, and killed a Cambodian soldier.

They say they want peace — but their actions show otherwise:
• Refused peaceful talks at the ICJ
• Closed the border
• Threatened to cut electricity and internet
• Expelled our ambassador
• Allowed a Thai citizen to assault a Cambodian officer and flee

How is this peace?
Cambodia is a small country. We don’t want war. We’ve suffered enough. We only ask for truth and justice.

This is not propaganda. It’s a plea from an ordinary Cambodian. Please look at the facts before choosing who to believe.

Truth is not measured by power — it’s measured by actions.

Located in Bangkaong Village, Ampil Commune, Prasat Bakong District, Siem Reap Province, the communal fish-catching ceremony is a long-standing tradition among the locals. Every year, at the break of dawn on the ceremony day, villagers from the area gather in unity to celebrate this event with joy and smiles.

The Angkor region is rich in living heritage, comprising both tangible and intangible cultural legacies. The locals have carefully preserved and practiced these traditions through generations. Every year, after the rice harvest, when the month of Māgha (Meak មាឃ) arrives, the residents of Bangkaong Village hold this communal fish-catching ceremony without fail. It is an exclusive event for village members, preparing for the Māgha ceremony (Loeung Meak ឡើងមាឃ) or Loeung Neakta (ឡើងអ្នកតា) on the following day, in accordance with their ancestral customs.

The fish-catching takes place in a large ancient reservoir, which retains water throughout both dry and rainy seasons and is strictly protected by the villagers. No one is allowed to fish in it at any time except during this particular month, as determined by the organizing committee in advance. The communal fishing day is carefully chosen, and only after this official decision are villagers allowed to participate. However, they must use traditional fishing tools, such as nets, bamboo fish traps (angrut), and scoop nets (chnang).

The fish caught is divided into two portions:

- For household consumption – families prepare dishes for their own use.
- For religious offerings – a portion is set aside to make fish noodle soup (num banh chok នំបញ្ចុក) and other traditional dishes, which are then offered to the monks at the Māgha ceremony (Loeung Neakta) at the village’s communal hall.

This tradition has been faithfully upheld by the Angkorian villagers, reflecting their deep sense of community, heritage, and devotion to tradition.
