As a reflection of the “REQUIEM: A TRIBUTE TO PHOTOJOURNALISTS LOST IN PHNOM PENH” exhibition hosted by the ECCC and Meta House that is currently being shown at the ECCC Resource Centre, we are reminded of tragedies that occurred in Cambodian history. This image shows two young women and a teenage boy who were captured Khmer Rouge soldiers and subsequently stripped, sexually assaulted, and killed. Their eyes convey a strong sense of resentment, terror, and suffering. The Khmer Rouge regime violated the dignity of many young people and caused their horrifying deaths. We shall remember that even in war, human dignity shall be preserved and protected. As we commemorate this chapter in Cambodian history, we pledge to never forget, to learn, to honour, and to never allow the past to happen again.

ក្នុងអំឡុងគ្រាដ៏លំបាកមួយនេះ វាពិតជាសំខាន់ណាស់ដែលយុវជនគ្រប់រូបប្រកាន់ខ្ជាប់នូវសីលធម៌និងមនុស្សធម៌ដែលចាំបាច់ជាទីបំផុត។ សង្គ្រាមមិនបានផ្តល់ផលវិជ្ជមានឲមកផ្នែកខាងណាមួយឡើយ ផ្ទុយទៅវិញវាបង្កឲមានបញ្ហាជាច្រើន។ ហើយអ្នកដែលរងគ្រោះខ្លាំងបំផុតនោះគឺស្ត្រីនិងកុមារ។

During this difficult time, it is very important for all young people to adhere to the most necessary moral and humanitarian principles. War has not brought any positive results to any side. On the contrary, it has caused many problems, and the most affected are women and children.

In fact, in recent days, the military tension in the border areas has caused families to be separated, people in the border areas have been evacuated from their homes, while children have been disrupted from their studies and are living in fear in camps. In this difficult time, all kinds of assistance, including food, medicine, and daily necessities, are still needed by the people in the camps. Women will need various hygiene items such as sanitary pads and clothes, while babies and children will need diapers and milk powder and clothes, etc. Please join us in donating as much as you can afford to.

Hello! My name is Vimean. I heard about the "Speak Up, Sisters" project through social media. What attracted me to this project is that it is a project that aims to eliminate sexual gender-based violence (SGBV), as well as promote women's rights, encouraging all women to have the courage to speak out about their experiences and ideas. I support and want women and girls in Cambodia to join me in this project and be brave in raising our voices. Together, we break the silence!
