A Cry for Justice from Cambodia
It is a deeply painful moment for Cambodia as we witness aggression from our neighboring country, Thailand. Thai forces opened fire first, escalating tensions in a region that should be protected—not targeted.
What is even more disheartening is the distortion of facts in some Thai media outlets and the deliberate manipulation of social media to shape a biased narrative. Cambodia is a smaller country, with fewer resources and a smaller population, yet our voice deserves to be heard with equal respect.
The most tragic consequence of this aggression is the damage inflicted upon Prasat Preah Vihear, a sacred and internationally recognized cultural site. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, this temple belongs not just to Cambodia, but to all of humanity. Bombing such a monument is not only a direct assault on our heritage, but a violation of international law and a potential war crime under the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.
We urgently appeal to the international community, the United Nations, UNESCO, and the International Court of Justice to investigate this act thoroughly. Justice must prevail—not only for Cambodia but for the preservation of peace and global heritage.
