To the World: A Truth That Must Be Heard
We, the people of Cambodia, speak today with heavy hearts and unwavering conviction. The Thai military has launched a brutal assault against our nation’s cultural soul. Using heavy artillery, including powerful shells and aerial bombs, they have targeted and severely damaged Preah Vihear Temple — a sacred symbol of Khmer civilization and a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site.
This is not just a military act. It is an assault on humanity’s shared heritage. Preah Vihear Temple is not only Cambodian — it belongs to the world. It stands as a testament to ancient architecture, spiritual devotion, and a cultural legacy that spans centuries.
By attacking this holy site, the Thai military has committed a serious crime — a crime against culture, against history, and against the very principles enshrined in international law. The Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property and various international treaties were created to prevent such tragedies. Yet today, those very laws have been defied.
We call on the international community — United Nations, United Nations in Cambodia, UNESCO, UNESCO Cambodia, human rights organizations, and global citizens everywhere — to stand with Cambodia.
We demand immediate accountability for these violations. We urge all nations to condemn this reckless destruction. We ask for international protection for all World Heritage Sites caught in conflict zones.
Silence is complicity. Injustice ignored only fuels further aggression.
Let us stand united — not only in defense of Cambodia, but in defense of the world’s cultural legacy. The truth must be known. Justice must be served.
PREAH VIHEAR TEMPLE MUST BE PROTECTED.
