Hun Sen Urges Investment Drive in Meun Chey to Boost Agro-Industrial Exports

During his visit to the Meun Chey International Border Checkpoint in Prey Veng, Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen urged provincial authorities to attract more investment—especially in agro-processing industries.

With its strategic location near Viet Nam, Meun Chey has the potential to become a thriving industrial zone that links Cambodia’s raw materials to global markets. Samdech Techo stressed that border openings should not only ease movement but also drive trade and investment.

“A good neighbour is like gold; a bad neighbour is like a landmine,” he said, highlighting the importance of strong cross-border cooperation.

Cambodia Trials Digital v-Pass System to Streamline Immigration Process

Starting July 1, Cambodia has launched the trial of its v-Pass system, a digital platform designed to replace traditional passport stamps and QR codes at border checkpoints. This move is part of the Royal Government's effort to modernise immigration processes and improve efficiency, security, and processing speed for foreign travellers.

Travellers can now access their v-Pass details via email, the official e-Arrival website, or the mobile app. This system is available at Cambodia's three international airports and seaport checkpoints, streamlining entry and exit procedures.

From probiotic drinks to lotus powder, 11 creative teams pitched their food product startups after a 16-week entrepreneurial journey. Congratulations to the winners:

Singapore PM Lawrence Wong to Visit Cambodia on July 2 to Mark 60 Years of Diplomatic Relations

Phnom Penh: At the invitation of Prime Minister Hun Manet, Singaporean Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will pay an official visit to Cambodia on July 2, 2025.

During the visit, PM Wong will be granted a Royal Audience with His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni and will pay a courtesy call on Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate. A bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace will focus on strengthening cooperation and deepening long-standing Cambodia–Singapore relations.

The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, highlighting a continued commitment to partnership in trade, innovation, education, and regional development.

Wuxi Guolian Group, a century-old Chinese investment powerhouse, is looking to invest in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) to process agricultural products for export to China.

At a recent meeting with CDC Secretary-General Chea Vuthy, the group reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Cambodia-China trade and supply chains. The CDC welcomed the move, highlighting the importance of value-added production and strategic corridors like the “Fish and Rice Corridor” and the “Industrial and Technology Corridor.”

📈 In 2024, China made up nearly 50% of Cambodia’s approved investment projects, and bilateral trade hit $15.19 billion — a 23.8% jump from last year!
