Cambodia Opens First Specialist Centre for Child Victims of Serious Crimes

Cambodia has officially opened The Lotus Centre — the country’s first specialist facility dedicated to supporting child victims of serious crimes such as abuse, exploitation, and trafficking.

Developed by the Cambodian Children’s Fund and operated by the Child Protection Unit (CPU) in partnership with the Cambodian National Police, the centre brings together investigation, medical care, counselling, legal aid, and cybercrime response under one roof.

Located in Takhmao City, the Lotus Centre is a child-friendly sanctuary offering 24/7 support and a path to justice and healing.

With over 4,000 cases handled and an 83% arrest rate since its inception, the CPU is setting a global benchmark in child protection.

Cambodia Eyes Qatari Investment to Boost Agro-Exports

The Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), in collaboration with Australia, has officially launched the Infrastructure Bond Prakas — a new regulation that enables public and private companies to raise long-term capital for vital infrastructure projects through bond issuance.

📍Introduced at a high-level workshop in Phnom Penh, the initiative was led by H.E. Sou Socheat, Director General of SERC, and H.E. Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia.

🔹 Supported by the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED), this Prakas provides a clear framework for financing roads, utilities, bridges, and more — aligning capital markets with Cambodia’s USD 36 billion infrastructure needs over the next decade.

In just the first half of 2025, Cambodia exported over 7.83 million tons of crops to 78 international markets, generating USD 2.87 billion in revenue — a 27% increase compared to last year!

Key highlights:
✅ Paddy rice: 3.17M tons
✅ Milled rice: 384K tons
✅ Non-rice crops: 4.27M tons
✅ Top earners: cassava, cashew, longan, mango & banana

Longan exports surged 31%, cassava chips jumped 57%, and bananas climbed 15%!

📉 Slight drops in maize & fresh cassava exports were due to increased local processing, showing a shift toward value-added agriculture.
