Busan City awarded an honorary citizenship certificate today to Professor Axel Timmermann, a renowned climate scientist at Pusan National University. Since 2017, Professor Timmermann has led climate change research and has been named one of the world's most influential researchers for seven consecutive years. He has contributed greatly to climate research, lectures, and mentoring young scientists in Busan.

Busan City announced that ticket reservations for the second round of the "Busan Youth 10,000+ Culture Pass" have surpassed 60%. The program provides young people with up to 110,000 won in support for performances and exhibitions. In the first round released last month, eight shows sold out immediately after reservations opened. The second round is also seeing rapid sellouts, with 3,400 users accessing the system simultaneously on the day of the Rock Festival ticket release.

부산시는 ‘부산청년만원+문화패스’ 2차 공연 예매도 60%를 넘었다고 밝혔습니다. 청년에게 최대 11만 원까지 공연·전시 관람비를 지원하는 제도로 지난 달 공개된 1차 공연 중 8개는 예매 시작과 동시에 매진됐고, 2차 공연 역시 빠르게 매진되며 록페스티벌 예매 당일에는 3,400명이 동시 접속했습니다.

Busan City has announced that it will expand benefits for employees of family-friendly certified companies to Jeju Island. This is an extension of the inter-regional benefit agreement first launched by Busan last year. The Busan Special Judicial Police will launch a month-long crackdown on illegal activities by online cosmetics distributors and sellers, focusing on false or exaggerated advertisements. The enforcement will begin next week and target misleading ads—especially those that could be mistaken for pharmaceutical claims or promote unapproved functional benefits. Violators may face up to one year in prison or fines of up to 10 million won.

부산시 특별사법경찰과는 온라인 화장품 유통·판매업체를 대상으로 허위·과장 광고 등 불법 행위를 집중 단속합니다. 다음 주부터 한 달간 의약품으로 오인될 수 있는 광고나 기능성 허위 광고 등을 단속하며 불법행위가 적발되면 최대 1년 이하 징역 또는 1천만 원 이하 벌금이 부과됩니다.

The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (BJFEZ) announced that foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first half of this year reached $354 million, a 67% increase compared to the same period last year. This figure far exceeds the annual target of $180 million. The majority of investments were in advanced technology, smart logistics, R&D-driven hybrid models and others, which are expected to have a positive impact on the region's industrial ecosystem. The authority plans to strengthen its foreign investment attraction efforts, focusing on Europe, the Middle East, Greater China, Southeast Asia and more.

부산진해경제자유구역청의 올해 상반기 외국인직접투자(FDI) 실적이 3억 5,400만 달러로, 지난해 같은 기간보다 약 67% 증가했습니다. 올해 목표치인 1억8,000만 달러를 크게 초과한 수치로 첨단기술, 스마트 물류, R&D 등 복합형 투자모델이 많아 산업 생태계에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 것으로 기대됩니다. 부산진해경제자유구역청은 앞으로 유럽, 중동, 중화권, 동남아 등을 중심으로 외자 유치 활동을 강화하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

As heavy rainfall continues to cause damage nationwide, Busan and Gyeongnam are also forecast to receive up to 300mm of rain over the next two days. Last night, around 30 residents in areas at risk of collapse were urgently evacuated to nearby homes. Vehicle access to places like Choryang 1 and 2 underpasses in Dong-gu District were restricted. The Busan Fire Department received three safety reports involving roof leaks, damaged roads, fallen trees and others. All incidents have been addressed and resolved.

전국에 폭우로 큰 피해가 이어지고 있는 가운데 부산경남에도 내일까지 이틀 동안 최대 300mm 이상의 비가 예보됐습니다. 어젯 밤 사이 내린 비로 붕괴 위험이 있는 지역 주민 30여명이 인근 주택 등으로 긴급 대피했으며, 동구 초량 1·2지하차도 등의 차량 통행이 제한됐습니다. 부산소방에는 주택 누수, 도로 파손, 가로수 쓰러짐 등 총 3건의 안전 신고가 접수됐고, 모두 조치가 완료됐습니다.

Following a tragic incident where children died in a fire while their parents were away, the Busan Metropolitan Police will launch a special inspection of child safety blind spots through the end of the year. The joint inspections will focus on dual-income and single-parent households, involving police, fire authorities, child protection agencies and others.

Songdo Beach, which has recorded the highest number of jellyfish sting accidents both last year and this year, has not installed a jellyfish-blocking net. Although the number of visitors is relatively low, the rate of incidents remains high. In contrast, Haeundae and Gwangalli beaches have already installed or are operating jellyfish nets. Seo-gu District is currently reviewing whether to install the net at Songdo, citing the need to weigh its effectiveness against the estimated cost of around 100 million won.

해파리 쏘임 사고가 가장 많이 발생한 송도 해수욕장에 해파리 차단용 그물망은 설치되지 않은 것으로 나타났습니다. 지난해와 올해 모두 송도가 사고 건수 1위를 기록했으며, 방문객 수는 적지만 사고 비율은 높습니다. 해운대와 광안리는 차단 그물망을 설치하거나 운영 중이며 서구는 약 1억 원이 소요되는 예산 대비 효과를 검토한 뒤 도입 여부를 결정할 계획입니다.

The first round of the government's "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupons" will be distributed starting next Monday through September 12. Ordinary citizens will receive 180,000 won, while low-income households and single-parent families will receive 330,000 won. Basic livelihood security recipients are eligible for 430,000 won. A second round of payments, offering an additional 100,000 won per person to 90% of the population, will begin on September 22. Eligibility is based on those who were registered residents of Busan as of June 18 and born before December 31, 2006. For minors, the application must be submitted by the head of household. Applications can be made online (via credit card companies and the Dongbaekjeon platform) or in person at banks, community centers, and Busan Bank branches.

정부의 ‘민생회복 소비쿠폰’ 1차 지급이 다음주 월요일부터 9월 12일까지 진행됩니다. 일반 시민은 18만 원, 차상위계층·한부모가정은 33만 원, 기초생활수급자는 43만 원을 지급받습니다. 9월 22일부터는 국민 90%를 대상으로 1인당 10만 원씩 추가 지급됩니다. 대상은 6월 18일 기준 부산에 주민등록이 돼 있는 2006년 12월 31일 이전 출생자이며, 미성년자는 세대주가 신청해야 합니다. 신청은 온라인(카드사·동백전 등)과 오프라인(은행·주민센터·부산은행) 모두 가능합니다.

Flight operations at Gimhae Airport are being disrupted due to worsening weather conditions. Nearly 100 flights have been affected, including one that was scheduled to arrive at 11:35 AM today but was forced to return to Shanghai, its departure point. Airport authorities explained that strong tailwinds and low cloud cover are making it difficult for planes to land.

Busan is also expected to receive over 100mm of heavy rain in some areas tonight, as torrential rain continues across the country, including the Chungcheongnam-do region. Even more rain is forecast for tomorrow and the day after, with some regions possibly seeing over 300mm. The Busan Meteorological Administration explained that a low-pressure system moving eastward from the West Seamay bring repeated downpours to the region. Meanwhile, due to widespread flood damage nationwide, President Lee Jae-myung's planned townhall meeting with Busan citizens, scheduled for tomorrow, has been canceled.
