After a decade of making live action shows, getting the opportunity to do an animated feature.

It’s an awesome story to tell and I’m honored I get to tell it.

is the current gold standard for immersive, interactive, narrative experiences!

Can’t wait to do it again.

—— here’s a bunch of analysis.

This fictional Old West town offers an expansive world to explore, featuring engaging characters, intriguing mysteries to solve, and thoughtfully designed elements that address common challenges in immersive experiences. The result is a sustainable business model that caters to varying levels of engagement.

The experience is a full four hours yet only completed 3 of the 10+ available mystery/adventure stories. Despite the full house, the space never felt crowded. It’s huge.

What’s impressive is the experience’s versatility. While I chose full engagement, others opted for a more relaxed approach - simply enjoying the atmosphere, dining, and taking in the vibe.

Stranger Things: First Shadow. Awesome transmedia storytelling and the most terrifying stage experience I’ve ever had.

Last night of checked out

Netflix produced prequel to .

I was sitting next to a super fan and he said it felt like an epic episode of the show. I would add that it’s more terrifying. I caught myself saying WTF multiple times during the production.

Amazing blend of classic nostalgia high school stage plays and new live technology into crazy bonkers supernatural epicness.

The last carousel is me directly after the show. 😂

Excited to share my first national commercial that I had the honor to write and direct.

This story and spot is really personal to me, and I hope that it inspires you.

As a children of immigrants and a large extended family full of immigrants, I really was hoping to do a piece that they could enjoy and relate to.

Thanks to New York Life for the opportunity to put this spot together.

It’s a story about immigrants, a story about family, and a story about legacy, all in 60 seconds.

Fly back from Asia -> next morning do a 10k.
Good Idea or Bad idea?

As a frequent traveler, I’m always trying to optimize against Jet Lag, and deciding when to come back from my last minute Taiwan trip for my Grandmother’s passing, I picked a return date that would be literally 24 hours from this 10k run.

Here’s the logic. If I’m going to wake up in the middle of the night anyway, I might as well get up and run a 10k right? - Yeah it kinda sounds insane to me too, especially considering I’ve never done a running event ever, in my life. Nor was I training. A runner… I am NOT!

So did I run the whole thing? No. I jogged for most of it but I wasn’t going hard. I mean I’m literally jumping at the end, how hard could I have gone? But I wasn’t going for time, I was just doing it for the experience, and it was joyous.

This was a RunDisney 10k so there was a lot to see, so when there were things to see, I slowed down and took it in, but I did it. So here’s to 2024 firsts, and being a better version of yourself.

So now over 48 hours later, good idea or bad idea?
It was a good idea, but the body is feeling a bit tired, or jet lagged, or both.

On to the next adventure.

As we usher in 2024, a time typically bustling with resolutions and new beginnings, I find myself on an unexpected journey of reflection, prompted by the loss of my grandmother at 101. This poignant event at the cusp of the new year threw my plans into disarray, and challenging me to reconsider my priorities.

Initially, I debated returning to Taiwan for her funeral. Having visited frequently over the past year, I felt at peace with her passing. But then, a shift in perspective occurred. This wasn’t about my personal closure; it was about being there for my family in a moment of collective loss.

I realized that my presence represented more than fulfilling a cultural or familial duty. It was about supporting my father and his siblings who had just lost their mother. I wasn’t just attending a funeral; I was providing comfort and solidarity in a time of grief.

During the funeral, I found myself actively supporting my family, offering hugs and empathy, sometimes met with tears, other times with a quiet nod of appreciation. These gestures, though simple, felt deeply meaningful, it felt like it was where I needed to be.

So as we all strive to better ourselves this new year, I find solace and inspiration in this experience. The passing of my grandmother, though saddening, has unexpectedly set the tone for my year. So many exciting things planned, here’s to the adventure!

Years are about transformation. How was 2023 for you?

Like every year for most people, mine was filled with ups and downs, and like mine, I hope yours was transformative for the better.

For me through all the highs and lows, the biggest change I had from the start of the year to the end was my commitment to spending quality time with family.

So through many gatherings for holidays, Disney Adventures, and casual meet ups; I saw more family members this year than I have in the last 5+. Some of which I haven’t seen in 20+.

I am blessed to have a large extended family from both parents, and sure like most people, there are quirks, but I am grateful for them.

Happy New Year to you and yours, whoever they may be, wherever they may be.
