I Can Do All Things Through Christ
đ Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
âI can do all this through him who gives me strength.â
We often celebrate our achievements by saying, âI did it!â We point to our hard work, determination, skills, knowledge, and perseveranceâand yes, these things matter. But we must never forget where our strength ultimately comes from.
We do not accomplish things by our own power alone, but through the strength and grace that God gives us. Sometimes, we fail to acknowledge this because we become too confident in our own abilities and capabilities. We may begin to think that our success is entirely the result of what we have done.
It reminds me of a statement I once heard from a blogger who questioned, âWhy should I always give credit to the Lord for my success and victory? I did my best. Because of my hard work and perseverance, I became successful.â
At first, it may sound reasonable. We do work hard. We make sacrifices. We persevere. But who gave us the strength to work? Who gave us the ability to think, learn, create, and endure? Who opened the doors we could never open by ourselves? Who sustained us when we were tired and ready to give up?
Everything we have and everything we are ultimately comes from God.
Philippians 4:13 is not simply a declaration that âI can accomplish anything I want.â Paul was speaking about learning to live faithfully in every circumstanceâwhether in abundance or in need, in success or in hardship. His confidence was not in himself but in Christ who gave him strength.
Our hard work is important, but our hard work alone is not the source of our victory. Our perseverance is valuable, but even the strength to persevere is a gift from God.
So when we succeed, give God the glory.
When we overcome, thank Him for the strength.
When we accomplish something we once thought impossible, remember the One who carried us through.
Let us never become so proud of what we have achieved that we forget the One who gave us the ability to achieve it.
I can do all thingsânot because I am strong enough, capable enough, or wise enough, but because Christ is my strength.

Lord, forgive me whenever I take credit for what You have graciously enabled me to accomplish. Help me to recognize Your hand in every victory, every opportunity, and every strength I receive. Keep my heart humble, knowing that without You, I can do nothing. May everything I accomplish bring glory to Your name. In Jesusâ name, Amen
