The original date was May 26 but it was moved to May 15, on King Sejong’s birthday.

On this day is Korean Thanksgiving Day called "Chuseok" celebrated on the 15th day of August on the Lunar Calendar. To celebrate it, Koreans gather with their families to do ancestor memorial services at home known as “Char-ye” and eat a Korean traditional Korean food called “song-pyeon” which is a half-moon shaped rice cake typically containing fillings such as read beans, chestnuts, honey, cowpeas, etc. They come in plant-based colors of white, yellow, green, pink, and brown. The three-day holiday also includes “Beol-cho” which is the activity of removing weeds and cleaning the grave of their ancestors’ site, and “Seong-myo” which is visiting the ancestral gravesites.
