The Asian Studies Academic Society is an academic research & publishing circle organized by students of the Asian Studies Division of Yonsei University Underwood International College. Our aim is to foster informative and robust academic interactions between UIC students who study in diverse fields and disciplines but have deep interest in Asian Studies. Through individual and/or team-managed res
earch concerning topics of the members’ choice, and with the advice of Yonsei University faculty, members of Asian Studies Academic Society can pursue in-depth, self-motivated research and publication before graduation. We recommend this program to those of you who are considering or preparing for graduate school, to students who need writing samples for their resume in various job markets, or simply to those who wish to join a community of students with deep interest in Asian Studies. There are four major research tracks where you can develop your own research proposal, write a paper, present in a research colloquium and publish your piece in the journal publication at the end of each semester. The four tracks are: Humanities, Social Science, Economics & Business, and Art & Artistic Creation. Concerning the Art & Artistic Creation track, you can either submit a paper concerning the field or submit any and all formats of artistic creations (ex. Documentary, painting, photograph exhibition) after consulting with the professors and the steering committee. We also provide study group /mentoring platforms for various kinds of examinations and activities. There are three tracks: language examination study group, national public certificate examination study group and study group platforms for social activism. Concerning language examinations, we are providing monthly mock examinations for HSK and JLPT. The Asian Studies Academic Society is open to any and all students of Yonsei who are interested in Asian Studies.
