This Eid al-Adha is going to be especially emotional for my daughter Arisha. For weeks, she is caring two beautiful goats — feeding them, talking to them, playing with them from morning to night. They became more than just animals to herâ€Ļ they became her companions, her little friends.

Tomorrow, when she wakes up, they’ll be gone.đŸĨē

She doesn’t fully understand the meaning of Qurbani yet, but she does understand love. And in her own innocent way, she’s giving up something she truly loves — and that is the essence of sacrifice.

Her quiet strength and love remind me of what this Eid is truly about: sacrifice, compassion, and faith. May Allah accept the sacrifices of all, and bless our children with gentle hearts and strong spirits.
