[Upcoming Book]
다음 주 출간을 앞둔 앨리사 미나한의 『Interlude』 제작 과정을 공개합니다. 이 책은 사진의 물성과 시간성을 탐구해온 작가가 아버지를 향한 애도와 약속으로 완성한 작업입니다. 사진을 사랑했던 아버지 마크 제프가 남긴 필름을 직접 인화하고, 자신의 사진과 함께 엮어 두 시선이 교차하는 한 권의 책으로 만들었습니다. 이번 신간에도 많은 관심 부탁드립니다.

We’re sharing the making process of Alyssa Minahan’s “Interlude,” which will be released next week. This book was created as a tribute and promise to her late father, reflecting Minahan’s long-standing exploration of the materiality and temporality of photography. Printing her father’s film and combining it with her own images, she weaves their perspectives into one book. We hope you look forward to this meaningful new publication.

[10th Daegu Photo Biennale]

현재 대구문화예술회관 제10전시실에서 열리고 있는 제10회 대구사진비엔날레 포토북 전시에 닻프레스의 출판물이 소개되고 있습니다. 이번 전시에는 『The Little Jungle Book』, 『THING』, 『MONOLITH』, 『This Earthen Door』, 『다른 방식의 존재 연습』 등 닻프레스가 선보여 온 주요 사진집들이 함께합니다. 각기 다른 작가들의 시선과 작업이 책의 형태로 확장되며, 사진집이라는 매체가 지닌 다양성과 깊이를 보여줍니다.

포토북 전시는 11월 16일까지 계속됩니다. 전시 공간에서 닻프레스의 책과 작가들의 작업 세계를 직접 만나보시길 바랍니다.

Datz Press books are currently on view at the Photobook Exhibition of the 10th Daegu Photo Biennale, held at Daegu Arts Center Gallery 10. Featured books include “The Little Jungle Book,” “THING,” “MONOLITH,” “This Earthen Door,” and “Other Ways of Being.” Each work represents a unique artistic vision realized through the form of the photobook, highlighting the breadth and depth of Datz Press’s publishing practice.

제10회 대구사진비엔날레의 주제전시 생명의 울림에 닻프레스 대표이자 사진작가인 주상연 작가의 작품이 전시되고 있습니다. 이번 전시에서는 작가의 사진집 『다른 방식의 존재 연습』 속 사진 일부가 소개되어, 전시 공간에서 또 다른 방식으로 펼쳐지고 있습니다.

『다른 방식의 존재 연습』은 작가가 지난 10여 년간 마주한 풍경과 사유의 과정을 담아낸 사진집입니다. 180점의 사진과 자전적 글이 어우러지며, 자연과 인간, 내면과 외부 세계를 잇는 긴 여정을 만들어갑니다. 땅과 하늘, 나무와 호수 같은 장면들을 통해 작가는 바라본다는 행위 자체를 탐구하며, 우리가 세계와 관계 맺는 다양한 방식을 사유합니다. 사진은 기록을 넘어 사유의 도구로, 그리고 책이라는 형식은 이를 품어내는 하나의 세계로 자리합니다. 현재 포토북 전시에서 책 『다른 방식의 존재 연습』을 만나보실 수 있습니다.

포토북 전시는 11월 16일까지 대구문화예술회관 제10전시실에서 이어집니다. 자연과 인간, 책과 전시가 만들어내는 울림을 직접 경험해 보시길 바랍니다.

Sangyon Joo, photographer and founder of Datz Press, is presenting her work at the 10th Daegu Photo Biennale‘s main exhibition. The exhibition showcases selected images from her book “Other Ways of Being,” where photographs originally sequenced in the book are reimagined in a new setting within the gallery.

“Other Ways of Being” brings together 180 photographs and autobiographical writings collected over more than a decade. Moving through landscapes of land, sky, trees, and lakes, the book traces a journey that reflects on both the natural world and the act of seeing itself. Here, photography becomes a tool for thought—a way of linking the inner self with the external world—while the book form creates a space for these reflections to dwell. The book “Other Ways of Being” is also available to encounter within the Photobook exhibition.

The exhibition runs through November 16 at Daegu Arts Center Gallery 10. We warmly invite you to experience the resonances between nature, humanity, and the book as an artistic form.

뉴욕 아트북페어 2025를 잘 마무리 했습니다. 이번 페어에서 신간을 선보이고, 많은 분들과 직접 이야기를 나눌 수 있어 특별한 시간이었습니다. 찾아와 주신 모든 분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다.

The New York Art Book Fair 2025 has come to a close. It was a wonderful experience to introduce our new titles and share conversations with so many of you. We are truly grateful to everyone who stopped by our booth.

샌프란시스코 북페어에서 나흘간의 여정을 잘 마무리했습니다. 닻프레스의 출판물에 대한 뜨거운 관심과 성원을 마음속 깊이 간직하고 서울로 돌아갑니다. 응원해주신 모든 분들께 감사드리며, 닻의 다음 북페어 여정은 9월 뉴욕아트북페어입니다. 새로운 책들로 미동부에서 만나뵙길 기대하겠습니다. Thank you so much to all our visitors! It was truly a wonderful event. We left our hearts in San Francisco, the city for photography and art book lovers! Our next journey is the NYABF at PS1 MoMA in September in NYC. 다가오는 금요일 출간 예정인 린다 코너 & 마리아 지빌라 메리안의 『The Little Jungle Book』의 제작 과정을 공개합니다. 이번 신간은 사진작가 린다 코너가 독일의 자연·곤충학자이자 삽화가인 마리아 지빌라 메리안의 삽화가 담긴 원서 『열대의 경이로운 작은 책Das kleine Buch der Tropenwunder』(1954)에 콜라주 작업을 더하여 재창조한 아티스트북입니다. 닻프레스는 작가의 콜라주 북의 매력과 표현 방식을 최대한 충실히 재현하고자 했습니다. 콜라주 북의 매력적인 요소 중 하나인, 팝업으로 솟아오르는 요소들은 한 땀 한 땀 수작업을 통해 담았습니다. 이번 신간에도 많은 관심 부탁드립니다.

We are excited to share behind-the-scene photos of the printing process for “The Little Jungle Book” by Linda Connor and Maria Silbylla. This artist book is created by photographer Linda Connor through the addition of collage work to the original Das kleine Buch der Tropenwunder (The Little Book of Tropical Wonders, 1954), which features illustrations by German naturalist, entomologist, and illustrator Maria Sibylla Merian. Datz has strived to faithfully reproduce the expressive form of the original, while carefully hand-assembling the pop-up elements—one of the collage book’s key charms. Please look forward to this thoughtful and delightful publication.
