To mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation, the Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum will host its “Waving the Taegeukgi” program tomorrow. The event will feature guided exhibition tours, a quiz on the lyrics of a Liberation Day commemorative song, a display of a giant Taegeukgi made from children’s drawings and others. Admission is free.

80주년을 맞아 부산근현대역사관에서는 내일 광복 프로그램 ‘태극기 휘날리며’를 마련합니다. 어린이 그림으로 만든 대형 태극기 전시 등이 마련되며, 무료로 참여 가능하다.

The city of Busan will conduct the 2025 Ulchi Exercise from August 18 to 21. Civilian, government, military, police, and fire authorities will take part in wartime decision-making drills, map-based exercises, civil defense evacuations, joint training, emergency call-ups and others to assess emergency readiness. On August 20 at 2 p.m., the civil defense drill will be held without traffic control, while all 12 fire stations will conduct “emergency vehicle passage” training.

부산시는 오는 18일부터 21일까지 2025년 을지연습을 실시합니다. 민·관·군·경·소방이 참여해 전시 의사결정, 도상훈련, 민방위 대피, 합동훈련, 비상소집 등을 진행하며 비상대비태세를 점검합니다. 20일 오후 2시 민방위훈련은 차량 통제 없이, 12개 소방서에서 ‘길 터주기 훈련’을 진행합니다.

The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency and the Busan City Autonomous Police Commission are carrying out a special two-day crackdown today and tomorrow targeting illegal motorcycle and car street racing. A total of 420 personnel will be deployed to anticipated routes and gathering points. Authorities plan not only on-site arrests but also to collect video evidence to pursue and punish offenders to the fullest extent.

부산경찰청과 부산시 자치경찰위원회는 오늘과 내일 이틀간 오토바이·자동차 폭주 행위를 특별단속합니다. 경찰은 예상 이동로와 집결지 등에 420명을 투입해 현장 검거뿐 아니라 채증 자료 등을 통해 끝까지 추적해 사후 처벌에도 주력할 계획이라고 밝혔습니다.

Following the decision to relocate the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and related agencies to Busan, the city, Busan Technopark, BISTEP and others have begun exploring ways to develop new marine industries. By November, seven expert forums will be held to draw up roadmaps for seven key marine manufacturing and service sectors, including marine semiconductors, energy, biotechnology and more. The first forum will take place on the 18th at the Hydrogen Ship Technology Center, focusing on marine semiconductors, with expert presentations and discussions on strategies for building an industrial ecosystem.

On the eve of Liberation Day, ceremonies marking the Memorial Day for Japanese Military Comfort Women Victims were held across the country. In the afternoon, the city of Busan hosted a memorial ceremony and cultural performances at the Busan Citizens’ Hall to honor the victims’ suffering and promote historical awareness. Currently, there are only six surviving victims nationwide, and Busan has had no survivors since August 2020.

광복절을 하루 앞둔 오늘 일본군 위안부 피해자들을 추모하는 기림의 날을 맞아 전국 각지에서 기념 행사가 열렸습니다. 부산시는 오늘 오후 부산시민회관에서 기념식과 문화 공연을 열고 피해자들의 아픔을 기억하고 역사 인식을 확산했습니다. 현재 일본군 위안부 피해 생존자는 전국에 6명이며 부산에서는 2020년 8월 이후 생존자가 없습니다.

The 80th Liberation Day celebration will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Busan Citizens’ Hall. Before the event, Mayor Park Heong-joon and about 20 key officials will pay their respects at the Liberation Memorial enshrinement site. Around 1,200 people are expected to attend the ceremony, which will feature a performance by the Busan City Arts Troupe highlighting independence activist Ahn Hee-je with the piece ‘Baeksan Ahn Hee-je’. The city of Busan and its districts have launched a national flag display campaign and have raised the Taegeukgi across the city this week.

제80주년 광복절 경축 행사가 내일 오전 10시 부산시민회관에서 열립니다. 행사에 앞서 박형준 시장과 주요 기관장 20여 명은 광복기념관 위패 봉안소를 참배할 예정입니다. 경축식에는 약 1,200명이 참석하며 독립운동가 안희제 선생을 조명한 시립예술단공연이 열립니다. 부산시와 구·군은 태극기 달기 운동을 펼치고, 이번 주 부산 곳곳에 태극기를 게양했습니다.

The opening ceremony for “Deullak Nallak,” a children’s multipurpose cultural space at Geumjeong Library, was held today. The city of Busan invested 2 billion won to expand the facility into a family-friendly complex, which is also expected to contribute to public education.

금정도서관 어린이복합문화공간 ‘들락날락’ 개관식이 오늘 열렸습니다.
부산시는 20억 원을 들여 가족 친화형 복합공간으로 확장했으며 공교육에도 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.

Busan’s employment rate reached almost 59% last month, marking six consecutive months of growth. According to the “July Busan Employment Trends” report by the Dongnam Regional Statistics Office, the number of manufacturing workers increased by 19,000. However, due to sluggish domestic demand and a downturn in the real estate market, employment in wholesale/retail and accommodation/food services fell by 21,000, while construction jobs declined by 5,000. The number of self-employed workers also dropped by 28,000. On the other hand, the number of unemployed people fell to 39,000, down 12,000 from a year earlier, and theunemployment rate decreased to about 2%, showing an overall improvement in employment conditions.

지난달 부산 고용률은 58.8%로 , 6개월 연속 상승했습니다. 동남지방통계청의 ‘7월 부산 고용동향’에 따르면, 제조업 취업자는 1만 9천 명 늘었지만 내수 부진과 부동산 경기 침체로 도소매·숙박음식점업은 2만1천 명, 건설업은 5천명 줄었습니다. 자영업자도 2만8천 명 감소했습니다. 반면 실업자는 3만 9천 명으로 전년 대비 1만 2천 명 줄었고, 실업률은 2.2%로 하락해 전반적인 고용 상황은 개선된 모습을 보였습니다.

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan has officially opened. Today’s opening ceremony, which also marked the 30th anniversary of the Busan–Ho Chi Minh City sister-city relationship, was attended by Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon, To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and a high-level Vietnamese delegation of around 100 people, along with about 300 local business leaders and others. The Vietnamese delegation toured major facilities in Busan, exploring future opportunities for exchange and cooperation, and discussing ways to strengthen friendly ties between the two cities. Busan is home to approximately 14,000 Vietnamese residents — the largest foreign community in the city.

부산에 주부산 베트남 총영사관이 개관했습니다. 오늘 열린 총영사관 출범식 및 부산 호찌민 자매결연 30주년 기념식에는 박형준 부산시장, 또 럼 베트남 당서기장 등 베트남 고위급 대표단 100여명과 지역 경제인 등 300여명이 참석했습니다. 베트남 방문단은 부산의 주요 시설을 둘러보며 향후 교류 협력 방안을 모색하고 양 도시 간 우호교류 증진 방안을 논의했습니다. 부산에는 외국인 거주자 중 가장 많은 약 1만4천 명의 베트남 교민이 거주하고 있습니다.

The city of Busan will hold a commemorative event tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Busan Citizens’ Hall to mark the “Memorial Day for Victims of Japanese Military Comfort Women,” The day commemorates August 14, 1991, when the late Kim Hak-sun first publicly testified about her experiences, and it was designated a national memorial day in 2017 to honor the victims and raise awareness of the issue. The event will feature a screening of director Kim Jun-gi’s animated film The Untold Story, which addresses the issue, along with memorial performances. Admission is free for all citizens.

부산시는 8월 14일 ‘일본군 위안부 피해자 기림의 날’을 맞아 내일 오후 2시 부산시민회관에서 기념행사를 개최합니다.기림의 날은 1991년 고 김학순 할머니가 피해 사실을 최초로 증언한 날로, 2017년부터 국가기념일로 지정됐습니다. 행사에서는 일본군 위안부 문제를 다룬 김준기 감독의 애니메이션 ‘못다한 이야기’ 상영과 함께 추모공연이 진행되며 시민 누구나 무료로 참여할 수 있습니다.

Busan City’s “15-Minute City Life Map” service will launch tomorrow. The service provides map-based information on over 1,600 facilities in 10 categories, including children’s facilities, libraries, and other public, cultural, sports amenities and more. Users can easily find desired facilities through keyword searches and category selection. The service is available to everyone without logging in, via the participation page on Busan’s 15-Minute City website.

The 13th Korea International Marine Leisure Week will be held from August 14 to 17 in the Dadaepo Beach area. Along with performances, hands-on programs, beach yoga and others at Dadaepo Beach, marine leisure activities will also take place at Gwangalli Beach, the Suyeong River, Suyeong Bay, Songjeong Beach and more.
