A Call to Action: Strengthening Our Community in Turkey

The Sierra Leonean community in Turkey continues to grow, facing both opportunities and challenges in a foreign land. As our brothers and sisters strive to build better lives, the need for unity, structure, and support becomes more crucial than ever.

We humbly call on the Sierra Leone Embassy in Turkey to recognize, support, and empower the Sierra Leone Union in Turkey as a vital bridge between the community and diplomatic mission. The Union serves as the first line of support for many in distress — offering guidance, advocacy, and a sense of belonging.

With proper collaboration, the Embassy and the Union can jointly address pressing issues such as:
- Immigration challenges and legal support
- Access to healthcare, education, and employment
- Protection of rights and welfare of Sierra Leoneans
- Promotion of culture and national identity abroad

This is not just about administration — it’s about nation-building beyond borders. We urge the Embassy to stand with the people, provide institutional backing, and help make the Union stronger, accountable, and impactful.

Snoop Tee, who served as Vice President, has now assumed the position of President of the East End Artist Union, in accordance with the provisions of the Union’s Constitution.

Message from Mr. Yusuf Dumbuya
To the Sierra Leone Union in Kuwait

I want to openly express my disappointment and frustration with the current state of the Sierra Leone Union in Kuwait. Over the years, we’ve put our trust in different leaders, hoping for real change and progress within our community.

Unfortunately, time after time, we’ve witnessed the same cycle:
- The first president came and misused the people’s trust.
- The second did the same, offering no improvement.
- And now, the current leadership, in whom many of us placed our last hope, is repeating the same pattern.

As a result, I am tired. I am hurt. I no longer have the strength or desire to speak on behalf of the Union or get involved in its matters. Nothing good is coming out of it, and the people continue to suffer in silence while those in power ignore our needs.

Until there is a genuine shift in leadership and accountability, I will remain silent — not out of fear, but out of exhaustion.
