Kuwait Busts Egyptians Smuggling Ration Food Out of Country
Kuwaiti authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle subsidized food supplies out of the country, the Ministry of Interior announced.
The Criminal Security Sector, through the General Department of Criminal Investigation and the Land Border Investigations Department, seized a warehouse used in the illegal operation after receiving a report from customs officials at the Salmi border crossing. Customs officers had intercepted a vehicle attempting to leave the country and found quantities of subsidized ration items hidden inside.
Following further investigations, a specialized security task force identified a warehouse linked to the case. The facility contained large amounts of subsidized food prepared for illegal export and sale abroad. The operation was run by several individuals from the Egyptian community.
All suspects were arrested, and legal action was taken against them. They have been referred to the competent authorities for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward the misuse of government subsidies, stressing that such acts harm public funds and national resources. The ministry also confirmed that security campaigns will continue nationwide to monitor and prevent similar violations.
Authorities urged the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities, highlighting the importance of community involvement in protecting public funds and ensuring the proper distribution of subsidized goods.
