Kuwait police discovered a huge amount of drugs stored in a camp in the Salmi desert and intended for trafficking inside Kuwait, the Interior Ministry announced on Saturday. Investigations led police to a Central Prison inmate serving a life sentence for drug trafficking, who was leading the drug ring’s operations from his cell, the ministry said.
Police were tipped off about the inmate’s activity in directing the manufacturing, storing and trading of the drugs. Investigations led police to identify and track another suspect to Saad Al-Abdullah area, and eventually to the Salmi desert where he was arrested inside a camp used to store the drugs.
Police found a large haul of drugs inside the camp including 40 kilograms of ‘chemical’ (synthetic cannabinoids), 60 kilogram of Lyrica powder, 8 kilograms of ma*****na, 500 grams of hashish, 5 liters of shabu (crystal m**h) liquid, and other drugs along with sensitive scales and drug paraphernalia.
The drugs were confiscated and the suspects were sent to the proper authorities to face charges of possession of drugs with the intent to sell; a crime punishable by death.
