After becoming the first woman to ever win a medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games, Olympian Jillian Crooks returned to the pool on Monday (August 7) to rocket through the 100-metre freestyle – winning gold in a national record time of 55.18 seconds – .14 seconds better then her time from the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Japan.

Caymanian inspiration Jordan Crooks tied his national record of 21.73 seconds in the men’s 50-metre freestyle final in Fukuoka, Japan on Saturday (July 29). Crooks took a sixth place finish against the top sprinters on the planet and was only 0.15 seconds off earning a medal.

It marked Cayman’s last appearance of the 2023 World Aquatics Championships and while Crooks didn’t make the podium, there is much for him and his country to celebrate.

Caymanian swimmer Jordan Crooks put on another impressive showing at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, this time in his 50-metre freestyle heat, which he won in a blazing 21.90 seconds.

He shattered his entry time of 22.20 but that’s not all; Crooks’ time was an A standard qualifying time for the Olympic Games next year and placed him amongst the top-20 swiftest performers in the world this season for that event.

Jordan Crooks secured a lane in the 100-metre freestyle finals at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships after he blazed through the semifinals with a new national record time of 47.71 seconds.

Hours before competing in the semifinals, the 21-year-old Caymanian inspiration had already broken the long-standing national record in his heat, where he swam 47.77 – an Olympic qualifying time.
