With this year’s theme of “Listen Courageously – Cinematic Narratives in Times of Dissonance” Berlinale Talents extends an invitation not only to visit the exciting programme but to actively engage, to explore new ideas, to broaden horizons and welcome new narratives; to listen, courageously, together. And there will be a lot worth listening to over the course of six days! Alongside an extensive internal programme of workshops, networking and more for the 200 selected filmmakers, the cinema-loving Berlin audiences can also look forward to 14 sessions open to the public with guests such as Todd Haynes, , Michel Franco, Zacharias Kunuk and more.

Hot Milk is a fantastic directorial debut for Rebecca Lenkiewicz who we had the pleasure to work with her and an incredible sound crew from around the world.

Join us for the Cine-concert performed by Cynthia Zaven, “on Palestine, a revised narrative”, a project by Rana Eid and Cynthia Zaven, on January 20 at 9.30 PM at Metropolis Cinema

 
Palestine – A Revised Narrative is a 30-minute film edited from 77 silent clips shot on 35mm between 1914 and 1918 by British Forces in Palestine, accompanied with specially crafted sound design and music. In this singular piece presented by ALFILM, sound designer Rana Eid and music composer Cynthia Zaven reflect on the British imperial narrative of this turning point in history by placing it within the context of a century of events that followed the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the birth of nation-states in the Middle East.

« فلسطين – سردية منقّحة »، مشروع لرنا عيد وسينثيا زافين

 في سينما متروبوليس يوم الاثنين .٢ كانون الثاني عند الساعة التاسعة ونصف مساءً.

فيلم مدته 30 دقيقة تم توليفه من 77 مقطعاً صامتاً صورت جميعاً على خام 35 ملم بين عامي 1914 و1918 من قبل القوات البريطانية في فترة انتدابها لفلسطين. يصاحب تلك المقاطع تصميم صوتي وموسيقي تم إعداده خصيصاً للتعليق عليها بصورة نقدية. في هذا العمل الأدائي الحيّ والفريد من نوعه الذي يقدمه مهرجان “الفيلم” في إطار برنامج بقعة ضوء، تحاول مهندسة الصوت اللبنانية رنا عيد بالتعاون مع مؤلفة الموسيقى سينتيا زافين تفكيك طرائق السرد الاستعمارية وسلطة ما تفرضه من صور وتختلقه من أبعاد لها في زمن نهاية الدولة العثمانية ونشأة القوميات في الشرق الأوسط.
