Beirut Shorts is an Academy Awards - OSCARS qualifying film festival celebrated annually since 2007 in Beirut - Lebanon, under its constant theme “The Power of Youth.” It is a forum for young filmmakers from Lebanon and from around the world to exchange film culture and to communicate via images and sounds. Participants experience different schools and genres, in a liberal environment of positive
competition for best fiction shorts, documentaries and animation, among other awards. Beirut Shorts hosts seminars and workshops in Filmmaking, Cinematography, Scriptwriting, Sound, Acting and Directing, and exposition of latest technologies in the field. The festival honored pioneers in the Lebanese and Arab Cinema and theater, those who have marked the history of the Performing Arts and Film with their signatures: Georges Nasr, Yousef Chahine, Randa Chahal, Raymond Gebara, Emile Chahine, Antoine and Latifeh Moultaka, Dureid Lahham, Abdel Halim Caracalla, Nadine Labaki, Georgette Gebara, Julia Kassar and others…
