PRIME MINISTER URGES ALL TO MONITOR SYSTEM
Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, has urged Saint Lucians to monitor closely an approaching weather system.
A 6am Weather Report from the Saint Lucia Met Office has alerted Saint Lucians to the approach of an area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave. Presently it is located about 1200 miles east of the southern Windward Islands, and remains well organised. This system could develop into a tropical depression today or tomorrow as it continues to move closer to the Caribbean.
According to the Prime Minister,
“Weather is an unpredictable force. We are still recovering from the destruction and loss of life caused by Hurricane Tomas of 2010 and the 2013 Christmas Eve Trough. As an experienced people, it is expected that our preparations for the 2014 Hurricane Season are complete and well in place.”
The Prime Minister wishes to reiterate the warning of the Met Office that residents of Saint Lucia and should continue to monitor the progress of this system as it moves closer to the region.
