රජයේ බදු ආදායම රුපියල් බිලියන 16 ක් වංචා කල BMW නියෝජිත Prestige Automobile සමාගමට එරෙහිව එම බදු බදු වංචාව සම්බන්ධ පරීක්ෂණය රේගුව නැවත ආරම්භ කරයි.
BMW වාහන 1675 ක් සම්බන්ධ රේගු බදු රුපියල් බිලියන 16 කට වැඩි මුදලක් වංචා කිරීමක් සම්බන්ධව එම වාහනවල ශ්රී ලංකා නියෝජිතයා වන Prestige Automobile Ltd සමාගමට එරෙහිව එවකට රේගු අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල් වරයා වූ චුලානන්ද පෙරේරා යටතේ පැවති ව්යාජ රේගු බදු වංචා පරීක්ෂණයේ (CIB /INV/32/2013) ව්යාජ තීන්දුව අවලංගු කර නැවත එම බදු වංචාව සමබන්ධයෙන් නව රේගු පරීක්ෂණයක් පැවැත්වීමට නීතිපති රේගු අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල්ට එරෙහිව අභියාචනාධිකරණයේ පවරන ලද නඩුවේදී එකඟවීමත් සමග 2022 නොවැම්බර් 15 වන දින එම බදු වංචා පරීක්ෂණය නැවත අලුතින් ආරම්භ කිරීමට රේගුව තීරණය කර ඇත.
මෙය 225+1 එරෙහිව දැඩි අරගලයක නියැලි ජනතාව ලැබූ ජයග්රහණයක් වන්නේය. එම නඩුව පවරන ලද අවස්ථාවේ Prestige Automobile Ltd සමාගම රජයට වංචා කල බදු මුදල වූ බිලියන 16 තට්ටු 10 ඇඳන් 1000 ක් සහිත රෝහල් 2 ක් ගොඩනැගීමට ප්රමාණවත් මුදලක් විය. නමුත් හොර කමින් වංචාවෙන් තොර ලොවක් නොදකින 225+1 විසින් රුපියලට බල්ලාටම ඇද දැමීම නිසා දැන් එම මුදල එවැනි එක රෝහලක් හෝ තැනීමට ප්රමාණවත් නොවන බව කිව යුතුය.
16 billion BMW revenue fraud finally see the light of the day.
This is another case won on behalf of the people of Sri Lanka against the utterly corrupt executive. In this case the flawed order in the Customs case CIB/INV/32/2013 made under the former Director General of Customs (DGC) Chulananda Perera was quashed by the Court of Appeal.
In this case for 1675 BMW cars imported with fictitious commercial invoices presented for Customs purposes to defraud the government revenue of over 16 billion rupees was originally ignored by Chulananda's men in Customs and the suspect company was only imposed a penalty of 100,000/- for each car imported with false valuation presented for Customs purposes whereas the actual revenue loss incurred by customs for each car was some millions.
Further to the representations made to German Customs, they have provided with all genuine commercial invoices for 1675 BMW cars.
In this backdrop the Attorney General has agreed for a settlement of the case filed against the Director General of Customs, Chulananda and his men and the settlement was duly presented to the Court in writing. And according to the terms of settlement the Director General of Customs has now called for an inquiry afresh against the BMW agent Prestige Automobiles Ltd.
