A media briefing held on June 26, 2025, at University of Sri Jayewardenepura, organized by the university academics addressed the current status of External Degrees and Extension Courses Unit.

It was clarified that no financial misconduct has occurred through the funds collected by External Degrees and Extension Courses Unit if University of Sri Jayewardenepura. All collected fees are credited to themain fund of the university and utilized for university development and essential expenses, with reimbursement made once government funding is received.

The academic panel further clarified that only the lectures have been temporarily suspended, but examinations for external degrees and extension courses will continue as scheduled.

Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda has been re-elected as the Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at University of Sri Jayewardenepura, marking his third term in this esteemed role. The Former Head of the Department of Economics, Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda obtained his BA Degree from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Masters Degree in Public Policy from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo and Ph.D. from the Graduate School of International Development at Nagoya University in Japan. He has also worked as consultant and committee member in many projects initiated by Sri Lankan government. According to the QS World University Rankings 2026, four universities in Sri Lanka have been ranked among the top 1,500 universities in the world. The University of Sri Jayewardenepura, one of the top state universities in Sri Lanka is included in the list of this year, ranking in 1400+ category in the QS World University Rankings 2026.

QS World University Rankings in this year, encompasses over 1,500 of the world's top universities, with over 100 locations represented around the world. Notably, the ranking criteria consider academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio.

In the QS World University Rankings 2026, the University of Colombo is positioned in the 1001-1200 category while the University of Peradeniya follows in the 1201-1400 range.

ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ විවිධ පීඨ සහ දෙපාර්තමේන්තු හරහා විවිධ අධ්‍යයන තනතුරු සඳහා සුදුසුකම් ලත් අපේක්ෂකයින්ගෙන් මාර්ගගත අයදුම්පත් කැඳවීම ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

ලබා ගත හැකි අධ්‍යයන තනතුරු අතරට ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය (I ශ්‍රේණිය), ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය (II ශ්‍රේණිය), කථිකාචාර්ය (තහවුරු නොකළ) සහ කථිකාචාර්ය (පරිවාස) යන තනතුරු යටතේ බඳවා ගැනීම් සිදු වේ. මෙම අවස්ථා වෛද්‍ය විද්‍යා පීඨය, සම සෞඛ්‍ය විද්‍යා පීඨය, කළමනාකරණ අධ්‍යයන හා වාණිජ විද්‍යා පීඨය, ඉංජිනේරු පීඨය, නාගරික හා ජලජ ජෛව සම්පත් පීඨය සහ පරිගණක පීඨය සඳහා ලබා ගත හැකි වේ.

විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය මඟින් අධ්‍යයන කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයට අර්ථසාධක සහ විශ්‍රාම වැටුප් අරමුදල්, ETF දායක මුදල්, පාරිතෝෂික පනතට අනුව පාරිතෝෂික ඇතුළු පුළුල් ප්‍රතිලාභ පැකේජයක් පිරිනමයි. ඊට අමතරව, සුදුසුකම් ලත් කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයට සප්ත වාර්ෂික නිවාඩු (වසර 7ක් සේවය කළ පසු වසරක් වැටුප් සහිතව/වසර 2ක් වැටුප් රහිතව) සහ විදේශයන්හි සප්ත වාර්ෂික නි⁣වාඩු සඳහා රු. 750,000 දක්වා ගුවන් ගමන් ගාස්තු (ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය II ශ්‍රේණිය සහ ඊට වැඩි) ලබා ගත හැකිය.

University of Sri Jayewardenepura formally invites online applications from suitably qualified candidates for a range of academic positions across its diverse faculties and departments.

The available academic positions include Senior Lecturer (Grade I), Senior Lecturer (Grade II), Lecturer (Unconfirmed), and Lecturer (Probationary). These opportunities are available across the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources, and Faculty of Computing.

University offers a comprehensive benefits package to its academic staff, including Provident and, Pension Fund contributions, ETF contributions, Gratuity as per Gratuity Act. Additionally, eligible staff may avail Sabbatical Leave (1 year paid / 2 years unpaid after 7 years) and Air passage up to Rs. 750,000 for sabbatical abroad. (Senior Lecturer Grade II and above)
