චිත්‍රානන්ද අබේසේකර (1930-1992)

'අගන්පොඩි හරින්ද්‍රනාත් චිත්‍රානන්ද මෙන්ඩිස් අබේසේකර' 1930 මාර්තු 7 වන දින ගාලේ දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ කොස්ගොඩ නම් සුන්දර වෙරළබඩ නගරයක උපත ලැබීය. ඔහු 'අගන්පොඩි ලුවී මෙන්ඩිස් අබේසේකර' මහතා සහ 'දේගිරි රොස්ලින් හෙන්රි ද සොයිසා' මහත්මියගේ එකම දරුවා විය. චිත්‍රානන්ද නම් මෙම කාව්‍යමය නාමය ලබා දී ඇත්තේ ඔහුගේ මාමා වන පීටර් හෙන්රි ද සොයිසා මහතා විසිනි.

Aganpodi Harindranath Chithrananda Mendis Abeysekera was born on March 7, 1930 in the beautiful coastal town of Kosgoda in the Galle District. He was the only child of Mr. Louis Mendis Abeysekera and Mrs. DeGiri Roslyn Henry de Zoysa. The poetic name Chithrananda was given by his uncle Peter Henry de Zoysa.

Chithrananda's father was the head of the village and the most popular among his people was "Mr. Louis Polosie." Chithrananda's granddaughter was Aganpodi Aralis Mendis Abeysekera. The family was responsible for setting up the "Panchanga Lit" (auspicious time calendar list for the year).
At his birth, Ananda Rajakaranu, one of Sri Lanka's greatest poets and a relative of Chittarananda, read his horoscope and predicted that one day Chittarananda would be greatly respected and glorified by his countrymen (on his achievements). .

Ridgeway Tillekeratne (former Director General of SLBC) and Karunaratne Abeysekera (well known lyricist-broadcaster) were two of Sri Lanka's foremost classmates. His other friends and colleagues who brought fame to Nalanda College are Stanley Jayasinghe, Harischandra Wijetung, Gunadasa Amarasekara, Sumana Akmeemana, Rupa Karunatilake, Dharmasena Attygalle, Minivan P. Tilakaratne, Henry Jayasena and Dr. Hudson Silva. Young Chitrananda is a Corporal in the Senior Cadet Corps at Nalanda College.
In 1949, Chithrananda Dedigama started working as an Assistant English Teacher in a rural school called Menikadavara in the Electorate. A year later, he resigned to help the Registrar General's Department, the Official Languages Commission, and finally the Official Languages Bureau. However, since 1950 he has been a guest producer on Radio Ceylon's drama, poetry and other entertainment programs. Until he joined the permanent staff of the same institution in 1956.
In 1957, Chittarananda married Mrs. Daya Ramanayake. The wedding was held at the Savoy Theater, Wellawatte, Colombo.
Many poets have published their works as professionals.
