during this period we have produced many talented media personalities to the nation. Going along that proud path, today we have gained an unparalleled peer admiration among the fellow school media units. The Communication Unit of Nalanda College has come a long way in both technology and talent and covers all the major events of the school including the responsibility to video archiving all major

events at Nalanda College. A major milestone was achieved in history with the telecasting of a TV channel Nalandasara TV with a range of 5km for three days - the first TV broadcast by a school in Sri Lanka. The Communication Unit of Nalanda College has broadcasted a radio station 13 times with a range of 20km under the names mentioned below.

♦ Organized the 3rd Media Day Sambhasha in 2006 at the BMICH and telecasted the Media Day.

♦ Organized the 4th Media Day Sambhasha in 2007 at the BMICH.

♦ Live webcasted a TV channel Nalanda TV for three days in 2007.

♦ Organized the 5th Media Day Sambhasha in 2008 at the BMICH and simulcasted the Media Day.

♦ Live telecasted and webcasted a TV channel Nalanda TV for three days at the BMICH incorporated with Future Minds in 2008.

♦ Organized an All-Island Inter School Sinhala & English Announcing Competiton in 2009.

♦The communication unit has transmitted its 11th radio transmission Nalandasara in 2010 it was transmitted through the FM frequencies and webcast through the Internet.

♦ Organized an All-Island Inter School Sinhala & English Announcing Competiton in 2010.

♦Transmitted its 12th radio transmission Nalandasara in 2011 and it covered Western Province through the FM frequency 96.1 MHz and worldwide through the internet.

♦ Organized an All-Island Inter School Sinhala & English Announcing Competiton in 2012.

♦Transmitted its 13th radio transmission Nalandasara in 2012 and it covered Western Province through the FM frequency 96.1 MHz and the worldwide wide through the internet.

♦The Communication unit has organized its 6th media day " SAMBHASHA 2012 " and launched its 6th TV transmission at the Grand Ball Room of "Waters Edge" and the chief guest of this event was Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Sri Lanka Hon.Chandima Weerakkodi,in 2012.

♦The Communication Unit has transmitted its 6th TV transmission using the IPTV technology for the first time in Sri Lankan school Media history in 2012

♦The Communication Unit has organized the "All Island Inter School
Sinhala, English Announcing and Technical Competition 2013".This competition became ''The first school media unit which added the video category'' for a school-based competition.
