Every year, the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition reminds us to pause and look back at a sequence of events that are both inhuman and enlightening. It is not just about cruelty, it is about the deep seated prejudices we carried forward. This day has its roots in the Haitian Revolution of 1791, when enslaved people rose up and said, “Enough, that is it.” The rest is history.

Have you ever seen little fireflies flying on a night? I’m sure you all did. Even as a child, I’ve wondered how they glow at night. What I could know is, they are glowing because of a gene. Genes are the blueprint for life which are segments of DNA that contain the information necessary for building and maintaining organisms. They carry specific characteristics or traits, such as eye color, blood type, hair color, and susceptibility to certain diseases.
Now let me take you to a fairy world a bit!

Every July 18th, the world pauses to celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day—a day not just of remembrance, but of reflection and responsibility. More than a celebration of one man’s life, it is a call to action: to live, lead, and transform with integrity, compassion, and purpose. But to truly grasp Mandela’s impact, we must look beyond the surface of his legacy and into the evolution of his character—from a young revolutionary bursting with energy to a calm, visionary leader shaped by time, trial, and deep introspection.

Chess, the board game played since time immemorial. Instantly recognizable by its iconic 8×8 checkered playing board and pieces representing a medieval battle, it may well be considered the King of board games. To celebrate this game of kings, we commemorate International Chess Day every year on the 20th of July.

On the full moon night in July, the silver glow spilled over temple rooftops, rice fields, and sleeping homes like a blessing. From early evening, quiet footsteps moved toward the village temple—grandparents leading children, young devotees carrying lotus blooms, and monks in saffron robes preparing for solemn prayer.
