One final season. One unforgettable way to finish it.

They began 2026 knowing it would be their last season in Trinity colours.

Achintha Jayasena. Hamza Abdeen. Minula Yaddehige.

By the time it was over, they were part of a team that had gone unbeaten and taken everything there was to win — the League, the Knockouts and the Bradby Shield.

But Episode 03 isn’t simply about the trophies.

The Players takes us inside the season through the boys themselves — the dreams that started years earlier, the work nobody saw, injury and recovery, friendships, match-day rituals, pressure, and the mentality that kept them going until the job was finished.

Because eventually the jersey comes off.

The school rugby journey ends.

You spend years trying to earn the jersey. Then one day, you have to take it off for the last time.

Achintha Jayasena had dreamed of wearing Trinity’s No. 8 jersey.

Minula Yaddehige had to fight his way back from injury because, in his own words, he knew he “couldn’t play without my jersey.”

Two very different stories that reveal what wearing those colours meant to a group of boys reaching the end of their school rugby journey.

They had worked towards these jerseys for years. They had grown up wearing them. And in 2026, they would wear them for the final time — finishing their Trinity careers as unbeaten champions.

The trophies will remain.

But for The Seniors, there was something else they knew they could never get back:

one more season in the jersey.

The dream didn’t start in 2026.

For this group of Trinity players, the ambition went all the way back to their Under-16 days.

They knew what they wanted to achieve. But as Hamza Abdeen says, doing something like this isn’t easy. There is a lot of work that happens where nobody sees it.

And perhaps the mentality of this team is best understood by what happened when they scored.

No big celebration. No sense that the job was done.

The game wasn’t finished. There was still rugby to play.

Dream about it. Work for it. Never give up. And whatever you do, do it as a team.

In Episode 02 of The Champions League, Head Coach Fazil Marija and Assistant Coach Sanushka Abeywickrama take us behind the touchline and into that journey.

An unbeaten season is what everyone saw. Tonight, we go behind it.

When Fazil Marija took charge of Trinity Rugby, the journey wasn’t about finding a quick route to trophies. It was about building a culture, setting standards and developing a group of players capable of taking responsibility when they stepped onto the field.

Alongside Assistant Coach Sanushka Abeywickrama, Episode 02 takes us inside that journey and introduces us to the much bigger team behind the team: coaches, parents, ground staff, support staff, administrators, the Scrummage and many more.

Because championships may be won by the players on the field, but champions are never built by 15 people alone.

The support staff. The Scrummage. The coaches. And every member of the squad, including those who couldn’t be on the field at the end.
