Book Launch: Women and Work in South Asia: Identity and Mobility
The Department of International Relations, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo, hosted the launch of Women and Work in South Asia: Identity and Mobility on Saturday, 8th August 2026, at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo.
The volume, edited by Prof. Amena Mohsin, Prof. Niloy Ranjan Biswas, and Associate Prof. Dr Mohammad Atique Rahman from the Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka, brings together writings from across South Asia exploring how women's work intersects with identity, mobility, and empowerment — challenging patriarchal structures across the region.
The event featured remarks from the editors, along with discussants Prof. Sreeradha Datta from the O.P. Jindal Global University, India and Dr Unnathi S. Samaraweera from the Department of Sociology, University of Colombo, followed by an engaging Q&A with students from the Master Arts in International Relations and the Master of Gender and Women Studies.
