කෞශල්‍යා නන්දසේන පොලොන්නරුව, වැලිකන්ද, සිංහපුර ගමේ 1998 දී ඉපදුණා. ඡායාරූප ශිල්පය ඉගෙනගත්තෙ කැලණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට ආවට පස්සෙ. ඒ එක්ක කෞශල්‍යාට කොළඹ කලා කථිකාවත් එක්ක සම්බන්ධයක් හැදෙනවා. ඡායාරූප ශිල්පය පිළිබද වෙනස් විදියේ ආභාසයක් ලබන්නෙ ශෙහාන් ගුණසේකර කියන ඡායාරූප ශිල්පියාගෙන්. ඊටපස්සෙ කොළඹ අවට වීදි, වාර්තා ඡායාරූප ගත්තා. කෞශල්‍යා ඡායාරූප ශිල්පිණියක් විදියට වැඩකරන්න පටන් අරන් අවුරුදු තුනක් විතර. එයාගෙ ගමේ ගැහැනු, සමවයස්, බාලවයස් ගැහැනු ළමයි අඩුවයසින් ගැබිනියන් වීම, විවාහ වීම, අධ්‍යාපනයෙන් දුරස් වීම වගේ හේතු එක්කම ඡායාරූප කතාන්දර විදියට පළමුව ඡායාරූප එකතුවක් ඉදිරිපත් කළා. මහවැලි ගම්මාන, මායිම් ගම්මාන ඉතිහාස පිළිබඳ උනන්දුවෙන් කෞශල්‍යා එයාගෙ "මුල්ගම්වැසියෝ" පළවෙනි ඡායාරූප ප්‍රදර්ශනය පො/දිඹු සිංහපුර කණිෂ්ඨ විද්‍යාලයේත්, දෙවනි ප්‍රදර්ශනය පො/දිඹු ඇසේලපුර මහා විද්‍යාලයේත් පැවැත්තුවා. කොළඹ සහ ඉපදුණු ගම එක්ක ඡායාරූප ශිල්පය හරහා සම්බන්ධ වෙන්නෙ කොහොමද කියල කෞශල්‍යා හොයමින් ඉන්නවා.

Kaushalya Nandasena, born in 1998 in the village of Sinhapura, Welikanda, Polonnaruwa. pursued photography studies after enrolling at the University of Kelaniya. During this time, she also began immersing herself in art discourse, drawing unique inspiration from the work of photographer Shehan Gunasekara. She then ventured into documentary photography, capturing the streets of Colombo. With about three years of experience as a photographer, Kaushalya’s first collection featured a series of photo stories highlighting the lives of young girls in her village—peers and minors—illustrating issues such as underage pregnancy, early marriage, and school dropout at a young age. Driven by a deep interest in the history of Mahaweli and border villages, Kaushalya organized her first photo exhibition, "Mulgamvesiyo" (Early Villagers), at Po/Dibu Sinhapura Kanishta Vidyalaya, followed by a second exhibition at Aselapura Maha Vidyalaya in the same area. Through her photography, she continues to explore ways of connecting Colombo with her village, bridging these communities through her work.
