2 day trip to Belihuloya, one of those drives that quietly resets you
Route, Colombo to Belihuloya via Ratnapura, Pelmadulla, Balangoda. With a few stops you are looking at around 5 hours.
You can plan lunch at Balangoda or head straight to your stay.

Non Pareil Road safari drive is the real highlight, steep climbs, sharp bends, and that stretch leading up to Baker’s Bend, easily one of the best scenic routes in the area.
A small story behind Baker’s Bend
Named after Samuel Baker
It is said he used to travel this route often. One day his horse slipped and fell off the cliff while he survived. The bend was later shaped like a horseshoe in memory of that horse, his travel companion.
Belihuloya sits right between the wet and dry zones. So you get a mix of landscapes, rivers, natural pools, and waterfalls all within short distances.
If you have the time, stay an extra night and just explore without rushing.
