# # # Stories from the Loo: 🚽 Why I'm Not an AI Genius, and Neither is the Guy Next Door
I was sitting here, contemplating the grand mysteries of the universe, when I overheard a conversation in the next stall. "Yeah, I'm a total AI genius," a voice boasted. "I just told it to write a sonnet about my cat, and boom! 💥 It was perfect."
My first thought was, "Wow, he must have a really articulate cat." My second was, "Is that all it takes to be a genius now? 🤔"
This got me thinking. The modern world is full of self-proclaimed "AI geniuses." We use a simple prompt—a few taps on a keyboard—and out pops a poem, a picture, or a presentation. We feel a thrill, a sense of creative power. But is that really a testament to our genius, or to the genius of the thing we're using?
I mean, I can make a mean cup of tea. ☕ I can boil the water, steep the bag, and add just the right amount of milk. I even know a few tricks, like warming the cup beforehand. But I don't go around calling myself a "tea-making genius." I'm just a guy who knows how to make tea.
The same goes for riding a bike. 🚲 I can get on, pedal, and even do that cool "no-hands" thing for a few seconds before swerving into a hedge. But no one's giving me a Nobel Prize for physics. 🧪 Nobody says, "Look at that genius, effortlessly defying gravity and momentum!"
And the TV remote? 📺 Oh, I'm a master of that. I can switch channels, adjust the volume, and even figure out which button summons the on-screen menu. Yet, I haven't been asked to give a TED Talk on my remote-control prowess.
The truth is, **AI is a tool**. It's an incredibly smart, powerful, and frankly, a bit spooky tool, but it's a tool nonetheless. It's a thinking body that we can use with simple prompts, designed to make our lives easier.
The **real geniuses** are the people who built it. They’re the ones with the deep knowledge of **large language models**, the ones who spent countless hours on **neural networks** and **data science**. 🧑💻 They are the true masters.
So, the next time you hear someone call themselves an "AI genius" because they created a cool picture with a prompt, remember this: the artist who paints a masterpiece with a brush is a genius of art, not of brush-making. 🎨 You're a genius of design, of writing, or of storytelling. You're the one with the vision. The AI is just the talented intern who did exactly what you told it to.
Now, if you'll excuse me, this toilet paper isn’t going to fold itself. I wonder if there’s an AI for that. 🤖
