The 3rd Bon Odori Festival organized by the Japanese Language Association of the Department of Languages, Cultural Studies and Performing Arts, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at University of Sri Jayewardenepura in collaboration with the Japanese Graduates' Alumni Association of Sri Lanka (JaGAAS) will be held on the August 22nd 2025, at the Main Grounds of University of Sri Jayewardenepura from 4.00 PM onwards.

The festival will feature various cultural events, including traditional dances and singing performances, Japanese food stalls, an origami stall, fun games, and a firework display.

The entrance to the Bon Odori Festival is free for everyone.

The Department of Economics of University of Sri Jayewardenepura enrolled the second international intake of the Master of Economics program on 4th August 2025 at the Sri Sumangala Auditorium.

The Master of Economics degree program, administered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, aims to provide advanced training in economics from a global perspective—enhancing students’ analytical skills and capacity for effective policy-making. The event was graced by Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Rasika Perera, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and other dignitaries.

The ceremony marked the formal commencement of the academic journey for the newcohort of international students. Futhermore it featured a traditional welcome and academic briefings, allowing students to engage with faculty and peers.

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) was recently represented at the SAP Academic Community Conference APAC 2025 by the academic staff of its Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC). The international conference was held in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines, at the SM Retail Headquarters, from July 7–11, 2025.

The event brought together over 200 participants globally, offering immersive workshops on key SAP solutions such as S/4HANA, Signavio, ERPSim, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Joule, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Ariba.

This valuable workshop provided a platform for USJ faculty to network with educators and industry experts, facilitating the exchange of ideas and exploration of potential collaborations. Attendees gained crucial insights into implementing new SAP initiatives at the university.

SAP's University Academic Alliances program is widely adopted by higher education institutions worldwide, including three state universities in Sri Lanka. The knowledge gained from this conference is expected to fortify USJ's University Alliances program and ensure the integration of the latest technological advancements into its academic programs.

ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ සමාජවිද්‍යා අධ්‍යයනාංශය මගින් මෙහෙයවනු ලබන සමාජවිද්‍යා ඩිප්ලෝමා පාඨමාලාවට (10 වන කණ්ඩායට) අදාළ අයදුම්පත් කැඳවීම දැන් ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

The Department of Sociology at University of Sri Jayewardenepura is now accepting applications for the Diploma in Sociology (10th Intake).

To be eligible for this program, applicants must have passed three subjects at once in Advanced Level Examination or passed two subjects in Advanced Level Examination with minimum one year working experience or completed any NVQF level qualification.

Duration of this program is limited to one year and it includes both a local research and an international research as well as field study tours. It also provides basic computer literacy relevant to subject. Lectures will be conducted in Sinhala medium via online and at the university premises.
