Shaykh Salih al-Shaybi, who is the chief key-holder of the Ka'bah and the 109th successor of the Companion, Sayyiduna Uthman ibn Talha has passed away. May Allah grant him the highest abodes of Jannah.

The Banu Shayba are the guardians of the keys to the Ka'bah and the caretakers. The family is in charge of opening, closing, and washing the Ka'bah. They have been entrusted with this job since the time of Rasulallah ﷺ.

Banu Shayba are descendants of the Companion, 'Uthman ibn Talha. On the Day of Conquest, Rasulallah ﷺ gave him the keys to the Ka'bah and said, 'Take it, O family of Talha until the Day of Resurrection...'
