Miko - Chapter 1: The First Snow
Soft, diffused light of the setting sun made its way through the clouds, spreading a pale golden hue in the snow-covered roads of Tsubasa Town. Unexpectedly, winter had arrived along with the snowfall. For Miko, it was just the best time of the year. The quiet silence when the snow falls to the ground made her feel a tranquility that no other thing ever could.
She stood at the window of her small apartment and watched the flakes swirl in the cold evening air. She could feel that old, gnawing tug in her chest, one which came any time she thought about him-Takashi. He was the friend of her childhood, and with the years gone by, she did not feel capable of shaking off the warmth of memories made with him. He was always there, but out of reach, like the snowflakes she could never catch.
The knock at the door interrupted her thoughts; with a note of surprise, Miko opened it-to find her neighbor Rika standing there, holding two steaming cups of tea.
"Hey Miko, thought you might want some company on a cold night like this," Rika grinned, handing her a cup. Miko thanked her and invited her inside.
They were sitting on the floor by the heater, sipping tea and talking about their day when suddenly, a sparkle leaped into Rika's eyes. "Oh, have you heard? Takashi's back in town. He came back yesterday!

He smiled, stepping outside, closing the door behind him. "It's been a long time." Miko nodded, and her heart pounded in her chest...........
