Senator Kogar Calls for Police IG’s Recusal From Drug Investigation

Nimba County Senator Samuel Kogar is calling for the suspension or recusal of Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman from Liberia’s ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

LNP Suspends Two Officers After Pleebo Station Altercation

PLEEBO, Maryland County — August 19, 2026 — The Liberia National Police has suspended two officers after an alleged physical confrontation at the Pleebo Police Station, reportedly stemming from a disagreement over the handling of a missing-child case.

The officers are Women and Children Protection Section Commander Rebecca Nimely and Deputy Shift Commander Mark Wahkeleh.

The incident, which occurred on August 15, was captured on video and later circulated on social media.

Region Five Police Commander Cool Moses Sepoh II condemned the conduct as unethical and unprofessional. Both officers were suspended with immediate effect, and the matter was referred to the Professional Standards Division for investigation.

Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah has confirmed that former Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor has been taken into custody as a person of interest in connection with the co***ne bust.

The former Vice President was picked up this morning while attempting to board an ASKY flight.

Minister Piah confirmed the reports on State Radio moments ago.

The Former Vice President has confirmed that she was prevented from leaving Liberia while preparing to travel to Accra, Ghana, to attend a women’s forum.
