Let’s avoid praying for our leaders’ deaths. Our actions this morning on Facebook are very discouraging.

"When a President travels, it doesn't mean you're going to a place to bring bags of money and say... Here's 5 million in this other bag, here's 10 million in this other bag, let's distribute. That's not how it works. When you travel as a government, as a President, you're engaging key partners... I just talked to you right now about the President's engagement in France, meeting the President, and his engagement in the UAE... Those engagements will yield fruits."

CDC Accuses Boakai Administration of “Deception,” Political Witch-Hunt

The Coalition for Democratic Change has accused the Unity Party-led government of President Joseph Boakai of using “deceptive tactics” and politically motivated prosecutions to distract from what it called sweeping governance failures.

In a statement marking the anniversary of the November 7, 2011 incident at its headquarters, the CDC alleged that the Boakai administration is “intensifying its witch-hunts” against former officials, including Nora Finda Bundoo, John S. Youboty and former First Lady Thelma Duncan Sawyer.

The party said recent corruption allegations “would never withstand legal scrutiny.

The CDC also criticized the government’s reported allocation of more than US$6.5 million for activities linked to a December 6 program, calling the spending questionable and wasteful at a time of rising prices and economic strain.
The opposition further blasted President Boakai’s recent foreign trips to Europe and the Middle East, saying the government has spent “tens of millions” on travel with “nothing to show” for it.

It accused the administration of failing to reverse harmonization and free tuition policies and of selectively prosecuting former government officials while ignoring alleged corruption within its own ranks.
The statement also raised concerns over large-scale contracts and concessions—such as the 285 yellow machines deal, the US$365 million road contract and the Oranto oil agreement claiming they violate procurement laws.
Calling for public vigilance, the CDC referenced recent U.S. State Department human rights reports that cite issues including police brutality and alleged political interference in the judiciary.

The party vowed to “fiercely resist” what it described as abuses of power and an attempt to undermine Liberia’s democratic order.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cape Mount LDEA Busts Another Tramadol Smuggling Attempt

Monrovia, Liberia -November 7,2025
Officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) assigned at the Bo Waterside Port of Entry, Grand Cape Mount County, have once again intercepted an attempt to smuggle a major consignment of tramadol into the country.

The discovery was made on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at about 3:30 PM during an LDEA officer's routine security inspection at the Bo waterside border. The drugs were cleverly concealed in various compartments of a Toyota Corolla vehicle bearing Liberian license plate number A121533, traveling from neighboring Sierra Leone.

The driver, identified as Abdullah Sow, a 22-year-old Fulani residing in Caldwell, was immediately arrested for further investigation.

This latest seizure highlights the LDEA’s intensified operations against drug trafficking, as officers continue to apply every available technique to detect and disrupt the illegal drug trade.

Despite traffickers’ ever-changing methods of concealing narcotics, the LDEA remains resolute, vowing to leave no stone unturned in its fight against the illicit drug trade. The Agency’s ongoing efforts continue to yield positive results across Liberia, particularly in Grand Cape Mount County, a key transit route for cross-border drug smuggling.

The total estimated street value of the seized drugs is
LD$2,252,000
