This is to announce the sudden death of Mrs. Mete Logan - Wheinyue . She was 32 years old.

This shocking incident occurred on Tuesday, March 18,2025 in Accra, Ghana.

The former President of the Republic of Liberia, Her Excellency Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, as head of a high-power delegation has departed the country to represent His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. and the Republic of Liberia at Namibia’s inauguration slated for March 21, 2025.

Former President Sirleaf is also using the occasion as a Special Envoy of President Boakai to vigorously campaign for Liberia’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council scheduled to take place in June of this year in New York City.

The former President is accompanied by Liberia’s Ambassador at Large Charles Snetter, Madam Joyce Mendscole et al to attend the inauguration of Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the second woman to be elected as president in Africa.

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is also set to become Namibia's first female President. The National Assembly elections saw SWAPO reduced to 51 seats, a bare majority of three. It was SWAPO's weakest showing since Namibia's independence in 1990.

Namibia’s Nandi-Ndaitwah will take office on March 21 in a ceremony to coincide with the country’s 35th Independence Day.

President-elect Nandi-Ndaitwah, 72, incumbent vice president for Namibia and the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO), won the elections in November with 57.31% of the vote, beating 14 rivals and crossing the 50% threshold to avoid a runoff.

Her victory extended SWAPO’s rule in Namibia since independence.

She succeeds Mbumba, who has served as interim President for a year since the death of the third President, Hage Geingob, in February of last year.

Namibia gained independence from Germany in 1990, the statement added.

His statement regarding the project does not represent the position of Senator Gbehzohngar M. Findley or his office.

The Office of Senator Findley appreciates every positive initiative aimed at benefiting the people of Bassa and has no intention of opposing any such developments. The Senator has previously expressed his appreciation for the Pro-Tempore for including such projects within her legislative project framework and acknowledges its importance in promoting and building the capacity of the citizens of Bassa.

Currently, as part of his campaign promises, Senator Findley is constructing his first vocational school in District #1, Grand Bassa County, as part of his legislative projects. A similar project will soon begin in Electoral District #5, as he is committed to building vocational training institutions in all four rural districts of Bassa.

The Office of Senator Findley kindly requests that all media institutions regard Mr. Trokon Kraingar's statement as his personal opinion and refrain from linking it to Senator Gbehzohngar M. Findley. Huge Prospects for GBU as Superintendent Karyou Johnson commits to rebranding the Institution with Board of Trustees Formulation Playing Lead

March 19, 2025) --- A courtesy meeting with Superintendent Karyou Johnson on Wednesday in Buchanan has built the hope of Grand Bassa University Administration for the advancement of the institution.

Dr. Arnold Hill who led the GBU delegation, specifically conveyed the Interim President, Dr. Samuel Benedict Reeves’ compliments for the official preferment and induction of Hon. Karyou Johnson as the 46th Superintendent; further outlining the gains and challenges of his entity.

The Vice President for Administration, Dr. Moses Bull, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Raymond Fahngawa, Human Resource Director, Matthew Davies, Public Relation Office, Pastor Isaac J. Ceegar and the Vice President for Institutional Development, Josiah Gayman were members of the University’s delegation.

Salary imbalance (disparity) among Universities across the Country, lack of funding to sustain instructors capacity building and scholarship programs, and ineffectiveness of generators among other major things, were part of the constraints the University Authority listed at the meeting that recorded Hon. James W. Duen and Hon. Moses G. Henry’s participation.

Reactivation of Internship Program for students and support to Agriculture activities were part of the deliberation.
Of all the outlined needs disclosed, Superintendent Johnson emphasized the formulation of the Board of Trustees, regular transparency and accountability in the University system and maintenance of budgetary allotment in the County Budget to the University as well as attracting the attention of the Legislative Caucus to be keen on the possible increment of the institution’s annual allotment in the National Budget that is currently at US$871,000.

It was also assured by the Superintendent that the Board of Trustees would be established in accordance with the New Act of the University as he revealed plan to engage with the Liberia Agricultural Company, ArcelorMittal Liberia and the Equatorial Palm Oil Company to solicit their supports to the County Educational hub.

This meeting marks the first formal interaction with the Institution of higher learning in Grand Bassa County, an entity whose seed was used to grow and nurture eight other community colleges across Liberia since 2008; many of which have obtained University status.

"I will mobilize and encourage our young people to prioritize and take ownership of the University since it is an educational symbol for the County and a significant source of leadership", Hon. Johnson told Dr. Arnold Hill's delegation.

GRAND BASSA [March 19, 2025]- Trokon Kraingar, a staffer of Senator Gbehzohngar Findley, has threatened to stop the ongoing construction of the Science Laboratory funded by Senator Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence in Buchanan. The laboratory, located behind the Bassa Youth Caucus (BYC) headquarters, is a part of Senator Lawrence’s legislative efforts aimed at advancing science and technology education in Grand Bassa County.

Speaking on 'Radio Gbehzohn' via phone on Tuesday, Kraingar accused Senator Lawrence of using her political influence to "hijack" the land for the project, claiming that proper negotiations were not made with the leadership of the BYC. He further stated that the land legally belongs to the BYC, despite evidence showing the land is actually owned by Grand Bassa County.

However, research conducted by reporters has revealed that the land in question is not the property of the Bassa Youth Caucus but, in fact, belongs to the county government of Grand Bassa. This new revelation challenges Kraingar's claims that the youth organization had the legal right to the property.

In his interview, Kraingar emphasized that while the establishment of a science laboratory is a valuable resource for young people in the county, the necessary legal and negotiation processes should have been followed. He warned that failure to resolve the land dispute would result in his actions to halt the construction of the project.

“We cannot allow such an important project to move forward without the proper acquisition of the land. If Senator Lawrence fails to address the legal ownership issue, I will make sure the construction is stopped,” Kraingar stated.

Matthew Bryant and Justin Tarr, founding members of the Bassa Youth Caucus, also responded to Kraingar's claims, refuting that the BYC had any legal deed to the land. They clarified that no deed exists in the records for the land in question, further contradicting Kraingar’s assertions.

In response to the unfolding controversy, Senator Lawrence’s Chief of Office Staff, Philip Johnson, dismissed Kraingar’s accusations as baseless. Johnson invited Kraingar to take legal action if he believes the land dispute requires judicial resolution.

“These are unfounded claims that have no basis in fact. If Trokon Kraingar truly believes he has a legitimate case, he should take it to court,” Johnson remarked.

Despite the controversy surrounding the land ownership, the Science Laboratory project remains a crucial initiative for the educational development of Grand Bassa’s students.

The Plenary of the House of Representatives has mandated its relevant committees to review a proposed legislation titled “An Act to Establish Education Standardization of Salaries and Benefits in Public Universities and Colleges in Liberia.”

The decision was reached on Tuesday, 18 March, during the House’s 16th Day Sitting of the First Quarter of the 2nd Session.

The bill, submitted by Lofa County Electoral District #3 Representative, Hon. Momo Safa Kpoto, seeks to bring uniformity and fairness to the compensation of educators and staff across Liberia’s public higher education institutions.

In his submission, Rep. Kpoto expressed hope for the cooperation and support of his colleagues, emphasizing that the proposed legislation, when passed, will bring “total relief to the school system across Liberia” by ensuring equitable treatment of academic personnel and improving the overall quality of education.

Representative Kpoto also cited Article 29 of the 1986 Constitution, which empowers the Legislature to enact laws in the interest of citizens.

He emphasized the urgency of addressing disparities within the academic sector and noted that the proposed bill followed consultations with experts in the education system.

Plenary has tasked the Committees on Education, Judiciary; Internal Affairs; and Ways, Means and Finance to thoroughly review the bill and provide expert advice upon their return from legislative break.

The House remains committed to supporting initiatives that enhance the national education sector and promote better working conditions for educators and staff in public tertiary institutions.

The double loss has left the family in deep mourning, and Amb. Wheinyue is facing what can only be described as an unimaginable tragedy.
