BUCHANAN CITY RECEIVES US$60,000 ANNUAL GOVERNMENT ALLOTMENT; MANAGER THOMAS A. NIMELY UNVEILS SANIATATION AND PUBLIC SAFETY SPENDING PlAN
BUCHANAN CITY,

Grand Bassa County – The Buchanan City Corporation received US$60,000 from the Government of Liberia as its annual budgetary allotment to support the development and well-being of the city.

Speaking on the allocation, Buchanan City Manager Thomas A. Nimely expressed optimism, stating that the funds will be utilized for essential internal operations aimed at improving public services and enhancing the living conditions of residents.

According to Manager Nimely, the city administration has already begun preparing its operational budget. He explained that the US$60,000 will be allocated in two key areas. A portion of the funds will support the mobility and operational effectiveness of the City Police, while the remaining amount will be invested in sanitation initiatives to reduce health risks and promote a cleaner environment within the city limits.

The City Manager further disclosed that the city administration has already spent approximately US$57,000 on sanitation materials and operational equipment. The purchased items include:
18 dustbins,
30 wheelbarrows,
30 raincoats,
30 pairs of rain boots,
30 pairs of protective gloves at the cost of 3,000.00USD,
5 grass-cutting machines at the cost of 3000.00USD
1 pickup truck cost 11,000.00USD and
1 garbage Compactor Equipment for 40,000.00USD. These things are to strengthen the city's waste management system.

The acquisition of these materials demonstrates the administration's commitment to improving sanitation services and ensuring that Buchanan City remains cleaner, safer, and healthier for all residents.

Citizens will now be looking forward to the effective implementation of these initiatives and the transparent use of public resources for the benefit of the city.

The destruction of the illicit drugs comes as ongoing investigations continue to implicate several senior law enforcement officials, including high-ranking members of the Liberia National Police, in the trafficking case.

Authorities say the move demonstrates the government's commitment to combating drug trafficking, strengthening accountability within the security sector, and protecting the country from the growing threat of transnational organized crime.

PRESIDENT BOAKAI ORDERS DISMISSALS, SUSPENSIONS, AND FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS IN MAJOR NARCOTICS CASES

Monrovia, Liberia | July 30, 2026 – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has ordered the immediate dismissal, suspension, and investigation of several government officials and law enforcement personnel following a review of the latest status report on ongoing investigations into major narcotics trafficking cases.

According to the Executive Mansion, the President's actions are aimed at strengthening accountability, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring that public officials serve with integrity and in full compliance with the laws of Liberia.

Among those dismissed with immediate effect are:

- Mark Egon Kuiah, Deputy Director for Operations, Roberts International Airport (RIA);
- Johnny Bolar Dean, Commissioner of Police for Criminal Investigation, Intelligence and INTERPOL; and
- Patrick Doe, Deputy Director for Administration, National Security Agency (NSA).

President Boakai also recalled Patrick Komasu (702), who had been seconded to the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), suspended him without pay, and ordered that he be placed under investigation.

Additionally, the President directed the dismissal of government employees and law enforcement officers indicted in connection with the seizure of 198 plates of processed co***ne at Roberts International Airport and the confiscation of 3,971 plates of co***ne from the premises of two foreign nationals.

Those dismissed include:

- Mohammed O. Gbowrah, Director of Security, Roberts International Airport; and
- Moses Jallah, Deputy Commander, Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Roberts International Airport.

The President further dismissed two Liberia National Police officers accused of using official government vehicles to transport narcotics from Vincent Town along the Bomi Highway to the vicinity of Mega Mart in Thinker Village, Paynesville. They are:

- Anthony T. Blaye; and
- Wadell W. Kwarbo.

Also dismissed and ordered forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution are:

- Jammel V. Jallah, Agent, National Security Agency;
- Christian L. Nyantee, Agent, National Security Agency;
- Caycee Nelson, Procurement Director, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection; and
- Albenigo Janior, Agent, National Security Agency.

President Boakai said these decisive actions demonstrate his Administration's commitment to ensuring that no public official involved in criminal activities remains in public service. He reaffirmed that the Government will continue to enforce the law without fear or favor and hold accountable anyone found participating in narcotics trafficking or related crimes.

The President has also instructed all relevant security and law enforcement institutions to intensify investigations and ensure that everyone connected to these cases is brought before the courts in accordance with due process of law.

The Executive Mansion reassured the Liberian people that the Government remains committed to combating narcotics trafficking, dismantling criminal networks, strengthening national security, and protecting the integrity and international reputation of the Republic of Liberia.

GRAND BASSA COUNTY LEADERSHIP DEDICATES RECONDITIONED J.J. CHEESEMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND COMPOUND ONE SPORTS PITCH FENCE

BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County (July 20, 2026) – The Grand Bassa County Administration, under the leadership of Superintendent Hon. Karyou Johnson, on Monday officially dedicated the newly reconditioned J.J. Cheeseman Elementary School in Edina, reaffirming the county's commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and providing a better learning environment for students.

The dedication ceremony brought together several senior government officials, including Hon. Salena Maipay, Deputy Minister for Research, Planning and Policies at the Ministry of Local Government, who represented the Minister. Also in attendance were Representative Isaac Bannie of Grand Bassa County Electoral District #1, County Development Officer Moses Henry, County Administrative Officer James Duen, members of the County Council, local government officials, community leaders, students, and residents of Edina and surrounding communities.

Delivering remarks on behalf of the Ministry of Local Government, Hon. Maipay commended the Grand Bassa County Administration for prioritizing projects that directly improve the lives of citizens. The program is designed to strengthen their professional skills, enhance ethical journalism, and build their capacity to effectively serve their respective media institutions and communities.
