Government to Remove Street Lights Planted by CDC Administration Along Tubman Boulevard

In a surprising move, the current government has announced the removal of all street lights installed by the previous CDC administration along Tubman Boulevard. The team responsible for this task stated that the street lights put up by the previous administration were primarily for showmanship and political purposes, rather than serving the actual needs of the Liberian people.

"CDC people are scammers. They scammed the Liberian people with China lights on the streets, but we are putting the real lights now," a spokesperson for the team declared.

The government is now replacing these lights with durable, renewable energy street lights, aiming to provide a more reliable and sustainable solution for the community.

S/Court Halt WAFDI Logging Operations
---Demands Obligations Fulfill

The Supreme Court of Liberia has halted all operations of the WAFDI logging company in District #2, Grand Bassa County.

Supreme Court in its ruling Wednesday said until the logging company fulfils their obligations to the community, it shall remain frozen.

The court in its ruling named the construction of two elementary schools, a clinic, and farm-to-market roads as obligations that need to be done immediately by the company adding they will need to fulfil their obligations before resuming operations in the area.

Recently, Grand Bassa County District #2 Representative Clarence Banks filed a stop order against the WAFDI logging company for failing to account for their social corporate responsibility.

Representative Clarence Banks furthered that the decision to intervene follows a clear breach of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the logging companies and the district.

He emphasized that the MOU, inked with WAFDI delineated the companies' responsibilities, including the construction of schools, road rehabilitation, installation of hand pumps, and provision of specified support to the district.

Regrettably, the logging companies failed to fulfil these commitments, leaving essential needs unmet.

This move by Representative Clarence Banks has been met with praise from the local community, who have long been advocating for companies to give back to the areas in which they operate.

The Grand Bassa District #2 lawmaker has shown a commitment to ensuring that companies are held accountable for their impact on the community and the environment.

However, the case is still ongoing, but it serves as a powerful reminder to companies that they have a responsibility to give back to the communities that support them.

Overall, this case highlights the importance of corporate social responsibility and the power of holding companies accountable for their actions.

The lawmaker vowed his unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law while championing the interests of his constituents has galvanized optimism and renewed faith in the district's future.
