FOR BEACH LIBERIA JOINS PARTNERS TO PLANT 100 COCONUT TREES FOR COASTAL PROTECTION IN MONROVIA
FOR Beach Liberia, in partnership with the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), the European Union (EU), the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA), and Clean Ocean View Liberia, participated in the planting of 100 coconut trees in the God Bless You Community under the Monrovia Urban Greenery Project.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the coastal ecosystem, enhancing urban greenery, and supporting the establishment of a natural coastal buffer stretching from the UN House through the Johansen area to Mamba Point. The project demonstrates a collective commitment to environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and the long-term protection of Liberia’s coastline against the impacts of erosion and flooding.
By bringing together government institutions, development partners, environmental organizations, and community residents, the project promotes community ownership and contributes to building a greener, healthier, and more resilient Monrovia.
Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Steve S. Konah, Executive Director of FOR Beach Liberia, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to environmental conservation and sustainable coastal management.
“The planting of coconut trees is more than an environmental activity; it is an investment in the future safety and resilience of our coastal communities. Healthy coastlines protect lives, livelihoods, and critical infrastructure. FOR Beach Liberia is proud to stand with the Monrovia City Corporation, the European Union, Clean Ocean View Liberia, and community residents in advancing this important cause,” Mr. Konah stated.
The tree-planting exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to combat coastal degradation, improve environmental conditions, and create sustainable solutions that benefit both people and nature.
FOR Beach Liberia remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting environmental sustainability, empowering communities, and safeguarding Liberia’s natural environment for present and future generations through advocacy, education, and collaborative action.
