Kerkula Foundation Celebrates Two Years of Impact in Underprivileged Communities

Monrovia, Liberia – The Kerkula Foundation, a community-based non-profit dedicated to empowering children and young people in underprivileged communities, is celebrating its second anniversary today, marking two years of service, growth, and hope.

Founded on August 25, 2023, the Kerkula Foundation began with a simple back-to-school initiative that provided copybooks and pencils to 16 children in Paynesville. From this humble start, the organization has grown into a recognized force for youth empowerment, education, and community development.

Over the past two years, the Kerkula Foundation has:

📍Awarded 30+ scholarships to children from Crozierville Township and Bensonville City.

📍Donated school supplies to over 150 children, including copybooks, pencils, uniforms, and shoes.

📍Launched a Home Study Program in Kollieman’s Town, Bensonville.

📍Organized a road brushing campaign along the Fendell–Bensonville road.

📍Trained 20+ women and girls in soap-making, tie-dye, and household product production.

📍Distributed backpacks to 25+ students with support from Sunrise Forever Inc.

📍Hosted a Christmas party for 200 children in Crozierville.

📍Organized leadership and empowerment programs that reached over 200 young people and students across Montserrado and Bomi Counties.

And many others intiatives.

Speaking on the milestone,
Matthew D. Kerkula, Founder of the Kerkula Foundation, expressed gratitude:

> “Two years ago, this was just a dream. Today, it has become a movement of hope and change. We are grateful to God, our team, and everyone who has supported us along the way. This is just the beginning—our best years are still ahead.”

The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to expanding programs, strengthening partnerships, and continuing to create opportunities for children and youth in disadvantaged communities.

Kerkula Foundation Founder and Executive Director meets Mr. Alie Conteh in Freetown Sierra Leone; secures future partnerships.

While visiting the Republic of Sierra Leone, the Executive Director Matthew D Kerkula had the honor of meeting with Mr. Alie Conteh, National Coordinator of the Orphan Empowerment Society in Sierra Leone.

Their discussions focused on the pressing challenges facing young people across Liberia and Sierra Leone from illicit drug abuse and unemployment to the lack of opportunities in underprivileged communities. Together, they shared ideas and committed to building a strong network of leaders dedicated to tackling these issues.

It was truly an inspiring exchange, and we believe this marks the beginning of a collaborative journey to ensure that the youth of both nations are empowered to thrive and lead change in their communities.

The Kerkula Institute of Leadership, Innovation & Technology presents the Emerging Leader Conference (ELC-2024). This event is a one-day leadership and personal development teaching conference for young people within Crozierville Township and its surroundings.

This event will bring together at most 70 young people to Learn and Network.

The central theme for the conference is, “Unleashing Potential: Empowering Through Leadership” with four different topics:
1. Leadership development
2. Public Speaking
3. Advocacy and innovation
4. Growth Mindset

Each of these topics will be presented by trained and qualified personnel.

Date: October 12, 2024
Time: 9 AM - 3 PM
Venue: Crozierville Townhall, Crozierville Township, ED #1

By emphasizing decency and Godly living, we aim to nurture individuals who will make positive contributions to their communities and society as a whole.

🔹 Self-Discovery: Through self-discovery activities and reflective exercises, our students will have the opportunity to explore their interests, strengths, and passions. By gaining a deeper understanding of themselves, they can set meaningful goals, make informed decisions, and embark on paths that align with their values and aspirations.

🔹 Leadership Development: We are dedicated to empowering our students to become confident, empathetic, and visionary leaders. Hello everyone! We hope you're all doing well. We want to take a moment to update you on our ongoing efforts to identify and support deserving students for our Less Fortunate scholarship program. In the past weeks, we've been actively engaging with school administrations, community leaders, parents, and students to ensure that we identify the most deserving candidates for the scholarship. Our recent visits to the Antoinette Tubman Public School in Crozierville and Hope International Christian Academy in Bensonville have been very productive, and this week we're continuing our efforts at the Gbokolleh Public in Bensonville City.

While the process is certainly challenging, we are fully committed to ensuring that the scholarship reaches those who truly need and deserve it. The scholarship comes with a variety of benefits, and we will be announcing these soon. We appreciate your ongoing prayers and support as we work towards this important goal!

General Secretary and County Coordinator .

Interested persons for the General Secretary Position must be:
* A resident of Montserrado county
* A female
* A High school graduate or above
* Good at writing and speaking

Interested persons for county Coordinator must be
* A resident of Montserrado County
* A high school graduate or above
* Influential and passionate about serving humanity
* All gender
