Hawa stepped away for a moment.
β€œI’ll be right back,” she told them, heading toward the restroom.

The moment she disappearedβ€”
Zainab grabbed Mariama’s arm.
β€œNow.”
They didn’t hesitate.

They walked straight toward Sheikh.
Confidence on the outside…
intentions hidden underneath.
β€œGood evening, sir,” Zainab said softly.

Sheikh looked at them.
Curious.
β€œAnd you are?”
β€œHawa’s friends,” Mariama added quickly.
Recognition flashed in his eyes.

β€œAh… yes.”
There was a pause.
Then Zainab leaned slightly closer.
β€œWe’ve heard so much about you.”
Sheikh smirked.
β€œOnly good things, I hope.”

Mariama smiled.
β€œDepends… are they true?”
The tension shifted.
This was no longer casual conversation.
This was… a move.

Sheikh studied them.
Carefully.
Then said:
β€œAnd what exactly have you heard?”
Zainab didn’t blink.

β€œThat you take very good care of people… you like.”
Silence.
Dangerous silence.
Then Sheikh chuckled softly.
β€œInteresting.”

At that exact momentβ€”
Hawa returned.
And what she saw…
made her heart drop.

Her two best friends…
standing too close to the man who changed her life.
Smiling.
Engaging him.

Competing.
Hawa’s voice came out colder than she expected:
β€œWhat’s going on here?”
Zainab turned slowly.

Smiling.
β€œOh… we’re just getting to know your… sponsor.”
Mariama added:

β€œYou never said we could also benefit from your connection.”
The air froze.
Hawa looked at them.
Disbelief. Hurt. Anger.

β€œAre you serious right now?”
Zainab shrugged.
β€œRelax. There’s enough Sheikh to go around… right?”

Sheikh said nothing.
He simply watched.
Interested.
Observing how far this would go.

And in that moment…
something broke.
Not just friendship.
But trust.

And what was about to follow…
would destroy all three of them.

Daniel couldn’t sleep after what he heard.
That scream…
It didn’t sound like an animal.
It sounded like a person begging for their life.

Early the next morning, the village looked normal again. Children were playing.
Women were cooking.
Men were farming.
Like nothing happened.

Daniel approached a young man carrying firewood.
β€œExcuse me… what happens in the forest at night?”
The man froze.
Slowly… he turned.

His eyes were filled with fear.
β€œNever ask that question again,” he whispered.
Then he quickly walked away.
Daniel’s suspicion grew stronger.

Later that day, he went to see the land his grandfather left him.
It was located near the edge of the forest.
As he walked closer, he noticed something strange.

There were marks on the ground.
Like something heavy had been dragged.
And then…
he saw it.
A piece of torn white cloth.
Stained with blood.

Daniel’s heart began to race.
β€œThis is not normal…”
Just as he bent down to pick it upβ€”
a deep voice echoed behind him.
β€œYou should not be here.”

Daniel turned slowly.
A tall man stood there.
Dark. Silent. Watching him.
β€œI am the chief of this village,” the man said.
β€œAnd you… are asking too many questions.”

The campus was buzzing.
UMU’s biggest party of the semester.
Music. Lights. Energy.

Everyone was talking about one thingβ€”
β€œSheikh is coming.”
Zainab and Mariama couldn’t believe it.
β€œThis is our chance,” Mariama said, adjusting her dress.

Meanwhile, Hawa stood in front of the mirror.
Calm. Confident.
She knew why Sheikh was coming.
Not for the party.
For her.

β€œDon’t embarrass me tonight,” she told her friends, half-joking.
Zainab laughed.
β€œWe? Never.”

But inside…
her heart was racing.
That night, the party was everything.

Music shaking the walls.
Students dancing wildly.
Lecturers even watching from VIP corners.

Then suddenlyβ€”
The music slowed.
Heads turned.
Phones came out.
He had arrived.

Sheikh.
Dressed in white.
Clean. Powerful presence.
Security behind him.

But his eyes searched the crowd…
until they landed on Hawa.
He smiled.
And walked straight toward her.

Zainab felt something twist inside her chest.
Mariama clenched her drink tightly.
As Sheikh held Hawa’s hand and whispered something that made her laugh…

Zainab leaned toward Mariama.
β€œThis should have been us.”
Mariama didn’t respond immediately.
Her eyes were locked on Sheikh.

Then she said quietly:
β€œIt still can be.”

At the United Methodist University (UMU) campus,
everyone knew them.
Three girls.
Three best friends.
One unbreakable bond.

Hawa. Zainab. Mariama.
They were inseparable.
But among them… one stood out.
Hawa.

While Zainab and Mariama struggled with school fees, late assignments, and empty pockets…
Hawa lived differently.

Designer bags.
Latest iPhone.
Always looking fresh.
Yet, she never abandoned her friends.

She paid their fees sometimes.
Bought them food.
Even helped them with rent.

β€œGirl, you too good for this world,” Mariama laughed one afternoon.
Zainab nodded.
β€œBut seriously… how you managing all this?”

Hawa smiled.
A calm… controlled smile.
β€œI just have someone who believes in me.”
β€œWho?” they both asked at once.

Hawa hesitated.
Then said quietly:
β€œHis name is Sheikh.”
The name alone changed the atmosphere.

Not just any man.
Sheikh.
A powerful government official.
Rich. Influential. Untouchable.

Zainab and Mariama exchanged looks.
Curiosity… mixed with something else.
Something darker.
Later that night, as they lay in their small room, Mariama whispered:

β€œYou think she really just β€˜talking’ to him?”
Zainab smirked slightly.
β€œNo man spends that kind of money for nothing.”

Silence.
Then Mariama said softly:
β€œWhat if… we could also meet him?”
Zainab turned slowly.
Her eyes gleamed.

β€œThat’s exactly what I was thinking.”

Daniel tried to ignore the old woman’s warning.
β€œVillage superstition,” he told himself.
But that night… sleep refused to come.

The air felt heavy.
Then suddenlyβ€”
BOOM.
BOOM.
BOOM.

The same drumbeats echoed again.
Slow. Deep. Rhythmic.
Daniel sat up.

It was exactly midnight.
He walked to the window and peeked outside.
What he saw made his breath freeze.

Villagers were walking silently toward the forest.
Men. Women. Even children.
All dressed in white.

None of them spoke.
None of them looked around.
It was like they were being… controlled.

Daniel quickly grabbed his slippers.
β€œI need to see this for myself.”

He stepped outside and quietly followed them.
But as he walked deeper into the darkness…
he suddenly felt something behind him.

A cold hand touched his shoulder.
β€œDo you want to die?”
Daniel turned around sharply.

It was the old woman again.
Her face looked even more serious now.
β€œYou were told to stay inside,” she said.

Daniel whispered, β€œWhat is happening in this village?”
The old woman looked toward the forest…
then back at him.
β€œThey are going to feed it.”

Daniel’s heart skipped.
β€œFeed what?”
The old woman’s lips trembled.

Before she could answerβ€”
A loud scream came from the forest.
A human scream.

And then…
silence.

The Village That Hides a Terrible Secret
Episode 1
β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’

When Daniel arrived at Kpatawee Village, the first thing he noticed was the silence.

Not the peaceful kind of silence.

The strange kind… the kind that makes you feel like someone is watching you.

The village was beautifulβ€”green hills, mud houses, and tall palm trees dancing slowly in the wind.

But something felt wrong.

Daniel had come from the city after receiving news that his late grandfather had left him a piece of land in the village.

As he walked through the narrow path, an old woman sitting beside a small hut stared at him.

Her eyes were sharp.

Very sharp.

β€œYou must be Daniel,” she said slowly.

Daniel stopped.

β€œYes… how do you know my name?”

The old woman looked around carefully before speaking again.

β€œYou shouldn’t have come here.”

Daniel frowned.

β€œWhy?”

The old woman leaned closer and whispered something that made Daniel’s heart skip.

β€œBecause every stranger who stays in this village… disappears before the next full moon.”

Daniel laughed nervously.

β€œThat sounds like a village myth.”

But the woman did not smile.

She only pointed at the sky.

β€œThe next full moon is in five days.”

Just then, a loud drumbeat echoed from the center of the village.

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM.

The old woman quickly stood up and rushed into her hut.

Before closing the door, she said one last thing:

β€œIf you value your life… leave before midnight.”

Daniel stood alone on the dusty road.

Then he noticed something that made his skin crawl.

Every single villager who passed him…

refused to look him in the eyes.
